I know that Jones told his players that he's leaving for Boulder than I guess he changed his mind.
Random poster on Rivals:
I heard that Butch Jones met with his wife, three kids and four senior's of the team early yesterday morning before he left for Charlotte to conduct the Belk Bowl press conference.
He did not tell the seniors he was leaving, but wanted to discuss the situation with them and how it would affect the team. The players then left and after he informed his family he was taking the Colorado job. CU did not know at the time.
He then told CU yesterday afternoon that he was accepting the offer and would be the next HC at CU. Someone then leaked the story to the DP who published the lead.
Jones was extremely disappointed with the leaking. He wanted to be the one to tell the players before they heard it anywhere else. This was very important to him.
So if Jones does not announce today he is accepting the CU job, he changed his mind last night after the leak.
Wouldn't surprise me if that had happened. Oh well, onto the next one.
No, that's just a garbage excuse, he wants the Wisconsin or Tennessee job.
Yep. These coaching searches are always full of coaches putting their name out there looking to leverage higher contracts at their existing school and also seeing if they can entice a big name job. Schools like CU often get played in the process.
I know it may sound sour grapes, but I didn't think there's much dropoff of other candidates to Jones. Jones is a good coach and won at Cinci, but he hasn't had a "rebuild" in his resume. Something MacIntyre has, so go get him Bohn. MacIntyre even looks like Bohn. Seems like it's going to be either DeRyuter or MacIntyre, plan B was DeRyuter all along so hopefully MacIntyre aces the interview if he gets one.
