My family should not have a puppy at all because I always get the worst of it. The dog needs to come train and at least 1-2 years old. lol So anyway we got a 9 week old puppy last night choc color pure lab that cost $550. I don't see how my brother can just throw $550 away when there are plenty of adotable ones he could get.

Labs may not be a breed with issues, but some breeds with many known health problems it pays to buy a pup from a good line and breeder because they test for genetic issues and you can avoid costly vet bills and surgery down the road.

No, in any darkness... I'll get a flare around a light source. Throw out those contacts and pop in a new set and it's gone. I just assume it's protein/other build up?

I think it's great when people adopt a poundpuppy, but I also think it's great if people want a purebred. The only dopes IMO are the people who spend $550 on a mutt (i.e. "designer breed").

Giant dogs are some of my favorite breeds: Bullmastiff, Old English Mastiff, Saint Bernard, etc...

Then name him after a Devil who got in trouble for bad behavior, like Quint or Oliwa.

i'm just not big on huge dogs. i never had a dog growing up so I don't have that "gotta have a pet" thing and i'm not super comfortable around animals who can knock me down.

Didn't you say you were at 5 feet tall? I feel like a strong breeze would knock you down.

Then you definitely wouldn't want a Bullmastiff, they were originally bred to "knock people down" (anti-poacher dog).

They're one of the most loveable breeds of dog though, even great with small children.

And here's a picture of my dog, RIP. Not a good picture (too dark), but it gives you an idea how big she was since the tennis ball in her mouth looks like a golf ball.
