I wanted him to stay with the Phillies. He could be a good platoon player.

I wanted Schierholtz also -- it's pretty incredible how the Yankees are just missing every single target in free agency.

Granted, guys like Schierholtz, Keppinger, and Chavez won't make or break your season, but it's still unusual to see Cashman coming up empty.

I like the sign. Always liked Schierholtz as a bench/platoon player

Damn. I wanted a Schierholtz/Ross RF platoon for the Yankees.

Very much so, Ix.

Just getting confused as to who Cashman is actually going to get. Wondering if there's a trade in the works.

Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com reports that the Cubs have signed Nate Schierholtz to a one-year, $2.25 million contract.

This is a headscratcher for sure. Maybe Schierholtz wanted a guaranteed starting role as opposed to holding it warm for Arod.

It's looking more and more likely that the Yankees trade Phil Hughes for a bat (I assume that Nova/Phelps are also on the block, but Hughes has more value.)

I wonder if the Brewers would consider a Hughes/Hart swap?

What I'm really hoping for is a deal that somehow lands Choo and Santana. Hughes plus a couple of their top prospects maybe.
