I'd see Cabrera move to DH before Bautista would move there .. Bautista has better defensive in the field than Cabrera and Rasmus could move to LF ... Rasmus - Gose - Bautista is sexy
I don't think you're really interested in the defense at that point.

Moving Bautista to 1b/DH permanently would be with the intention of extending his career for another 1-2 years, thinking long-term.

At the end of the day I think we overrate Jose defensively a little bit. He's got a top 10 outfield arm, but past that he's pretty average. Doesn't have great speed, not a great tracker etc.

Didn't see this posted the last few days. Apparently the Braves were very interested in Boni prior to the Miami/Tor deal, and still are. (link) Now I'm not saying I want him gone, but what value do you think he holds? Guys like Venters, Maholm come to mind that could be had. Ofcourse Minor and Beachy are the guys I'd want, but those two would command quite the return. Just in general, if AA is looking for starting pitcher depth through trade, Atlanta would be a good place to start.

Beachy would be an unreal pickup

That being said one of their big 3 from their bullpen would be huge too .. And they might be willing to move one of them since they picked up Walden

If we plan on using bonifacio as a bench player then id rather trade him if you could get a solid pitcher for him. However if he's our everyday second baseman then I'd want to hold onto him, only 27 with the potential to steal 60 bases and hit .300

I think its gotta be a pretty good return for Boni for me to want to trade him. Its gotta be a young controllable platoon mate for Lind with the potential to be an everyday guy, or a back of the rotation starter. And I don't we'll get either of those from ATL.

I think Izturis is the defacto 2b right now, but I think Bonifacio changes that before ST is over. His brings so many more tools than Izturis (especially speed). I think the value of EB as a supersub is underestimated... we've never really had a guy like him... at least not in the last handful of years.

Michael Young just blocked a trade that would've sent him to Philly

Michael Young was the worst regular in the entire major leagues last season.

I fail to see how his value is anywhere near equivalent to that of Cliff Lee's, even when you factor in Lee's contract.

Young sucks while Lee is elite. Rangers are moving him to dump some salary and put it towards Grienke or Hamilton.

No way. Not even close. Michael Young has very little value now. His bat is declining and he can't really reliably play any position on the field on a regular basis effectively except maybe 1st. If there was a trade in play (see below) it would've been for prospects or low-level roster players so that the Rangers can use it as an opportunity to open up playing time for Jurickson Profar. 4 or 5 years ago yes, Young would've had enough value to be in a discussion for Lee, but not now.

I think ESPN got suckered. It was from their rumor listings (which is where I got it. I never checked the link they sourced it to until now):

Quote:
Michael Young has decided to block a trade to the Phillies and remain in Texas, tweets Evan Grant, a decision that sends the Phillies in another direction for a third baseman.

Jack Hannahan, Kevin Youkilis, Mark DeRosa, Brandon Inge and Casey McGehee are the top free agents available. The club could also look into second basemen Brooks Conrad, Jose Lopez, Freddy Sanchez and Kelly Johnson and use them at the hot corner.

Lopez has played some third base in the bigs and in the minors and Johnson played on the left side, albeit at shortstop, for much of his minor league career.

They are citing Evan Grant, a Dallas sports reporter, but ESPN picked up the info from a fake account that at the time identified itself as Evan Grant's twitter feed, but has since changed to "Horatio Bellardita" from "Trollville, USA" and the actual Evan Grant's feed notes that the rumor was faked.

Without double checking it but aren't they also looking for a catcher?

Classy response by Evan Grant to the fake twitter debacle.

@TrollvilleUSA shouldn't that handle be @toolsvilleUSA. What a sad life you must lead.
Those always make me cringe, because it makes the person look every bit as immature and pathetic as the person they're ripping on. He could've easily taken the guy to task for his dumb joke without coming across like a dickish bully.

To replace Mccann? There were rumors of him being dealt, but when you had a disappointing season like he had the "trade winds" usually pick up your name. I wouldn't think they'd be looking to upgrade in that area.

I wasn't sure I thought I remembered them being linked to wanting a catcher but wasn't sure. Thank you and calcal for clearing it up.

Yeah when David Ross left, they picked up Laird.

I'm also not very sure how long McCann will last at catcher.

Well hes signed to another year, if he can rebound I'm sure he will be find. He's got a solid bat with some power, he was injured last year which affected his bat.

Yeah Mauer has a solid bat too, that's why it would be easier for a guy like him to transition to first and stay productive.

I'm not suggesting he moves now, but I wonder how long he'll last.
