The NHL is under the gun as long as it takes them 20 minutes to review and reject offers.

He claimed he met the NHL dollars, but NHL dollars was based on an 8 year CBA opt out. His was based on a 6 year opt out. Apparently the numbers aren't possible in that scenario?

Fully expecting Gary Bettman and Bill Daly to bring the hammer for their address to media shortly. On their way here now.

Excuse from who?

NHL said the 300m make whole was part of a 10 year deal with a 8th year outclause

Fehr came out and said money was agreed upon and mentioned an 8 year with a 6 year outclause

Fehr was the one clearly misleading people.

This is hilarious

This is also a really good point. And instead of working from the players offer, they've apparently pulled back. The better move would have been working out the "error."

The NHL should have triumph the dog come out and give their response:

The NHLPA made a great offer tonight.... FOR ME TO POOP ON!

NHLPA should really accept the 10 year deal. If they believe they agree on money(in their words) except the 10 year deal with an opt at 6-7 years. Really both sides need to stop this BS and settle it.

Here we go

The league is going to come out and disagree with how close things are.

Whether this ends tomorrow, next week, or next year, they're going to make the players look good in the end.

I find it particularly curious that Daly's phone call back to Fehr happened as he was about to address the media, and then in turn, essentially announce what the voicemail said.

The biggest issue is that they don't do the same math. Which may be a reason why the PA wanted a mediator back involved.

They apparently called Steve Fehr. He was seen just sitting with the players with his earbuds in. Hard to miss a call when you have them in

There's just going to be another lockout and another lost year of revenues regardless of when the CBA ends. Might as well let this current group get in as many years as they can before losing another year.

Bettman says the owners pushed hard on new deal last night. Bettman says union response last night was "shockingly silent."

Yeah, but it came just in time for a press conference. Why would the owners give Fehr a reason to twist their words? You know what would make Fehr look dumber? For him to keep going on about math and how they think they agreed on dollars, and the NHL to come out and crap all over the proposal.

Bettman: Owners wanted to do something bold. Put another 100M and union's response was almost non-existent. Owners were baffled

The same could be said that you hang up and try again. It always works both ways. With critical news like this you shouldn't really leave a voicemail should you?

While Bettman is making good points....I still dont understand why their movement on make whole/pension automatically means there cant be further negotiating on things like contract length.

The CBA length makes sense, but I don't understand how they expect to get a deal done with the "full package" approach they are taking.

NHLPA going so public was dumb. NHL reacting as they have and pulling away from the table is dumb.

Everything is dumb.
