I hate how every time there's a disagreement, both sides run to the media to blast each other. All it does is kill talks and draw the whole process out. If both sides were serious, they would keep all personal shots out of it and only report updates to the media. It's become such a pissing match followed by pandering to the media that I can't stand it anymore. I almost hope for a loss season at this point just so both sides realize what they really stand to lose as a result of their complete lack of professionalism.

They don't know what the math is, but when I hear something about "these three things" is more things than were issues 4 months ago. PA wants 8 year term limits, NHL was willing to go 7 for your own free agents. Does this sound like something they're in two different worlds on?

If anyone can remember as far back as...a year...to the NFL and NBA lockouts, there were talk they were close, and then were was chaos for a week or so. "What do you mean you're not close?!?!?" Turned out, they were close.

The players have repeatedly said the same about Bettman.

I think both sides want to make a deal, they're both just a bunch of idiots.

Neither side wants to look like they were the ones to give in first. It's like one giant **** measuring competition at this point.

whoever gives the inch, the other takes a mile. This, my favorite sport, is the most poorly run joke of a league on the planet. mutual benefits and any kind of compromising have ceased to exist. and gary bettman is a jerk off. the end.

throw all the money from this year away over a 2 year and slight percentage difference on the contracts that the owners of teams that actually make money created. bettman's retarded philosophy on expansion is the lipstick on this pig. it's like forcing a paraplegic to run a marathon. He's a disaster of a human being. if he really is one.

As long as you don't kid yourself into thinking Fehr and the players are saints in all this.

Time to push Gary Bettman and Don Fehr aside and let Bill Daly and Steve Fehr bring it home.

I know it looked bad the last hour or so.

but overall good things happened today and this week.

they actually have agreed on the money part, and pensions.

the 2 things I believe that are holding up

are the player contracts lenghs and the length of the CBA players proposed a 8 years league 5,

Both sides will take the weekend off, get back together next week.

As bad as it looked next week I think will be the week we finally end this lockout.

Darren dreager reported that it was this close to having the players vote on the deal, that tells you the deal is just about done.

Just to recap, Bettman made concessions...and announced to the world those concessions are no longer on the table.

And the PA is just supposed to keep coming towards them, knowing that.

And that is when Fehr came in and killed it

If the NHL's offer went before union for a vote next week ,, It would pass easily

NHLPA hardliners and stars (Only guys who benefit from super longterm deals) wont allow that to happen
