So you're telling me that a retired professional athlete worth millions upon millions of dollars is *voluntarily* moving to St. Louis?
Regardless of how much hockey he played there... I don't get it...
ha, I'm from and live near st. louis, but yeah, if I was a millionaire I'd probably not live here. His wife is from the area and maybe he still has a lot of ties to the area. I'm sure they'll be keeping their vacation home(s) though.
He might be the last defenseman of the type that we ever see. Big, physical, strong, and proficient at pretty much every facet of the game. He was also possibly one of the nastiest mofos to ever play.
I hate what he did to the Oilers, but I have a ton of respect for his abilities and what he brought to the game.

I believe his wife is a rather important socialite on the StL scene. Big fish, little pond. Plus, you can pretty much do whatever you want, whenever you want, so it's not like they are wintering in Missouri.
Really sad a great career had to come to an end like this...
Will always remember his time in Edmonton, the best defenseman I've personally got to watch wearing an Oilers jersey. He was a terrific player for them.

We all know who calls the shots in that relationship.

Yep. A lot of athletes that play in STL stay here, come back actually.

Don't worry, Chara's still around (Bouwmeester too).
Anyways, he was dirty, competitive, and a hell of a hockey player. I'm not an Oilers fan, but watching him lead them to within a game of the cup was a lot of fun and it showed how bloody good he really is. Hopefully he can lead a healthy life the rest of the way.

Not sure if serious...
Boy this offseason makes people crazy.... Whabba dabba ding dong.
I was under the impression that the only reason he hadn't officially retired yet was because he was getting an IR paycheque. He's been done for a while now.
Really, really dont like the guy but this is still sad and a terrible way to go out. Even though I dislike him with a passion I cant deny how great a player he was and ending his career because of a concussion is disappointing. Sad that he's leaving this way but happy he wont be there to play against anymore.
I still wish him the best in his future and hopefully these concussions dont affect him in any major way for the rest of his life.

This. He gets paid all lockout and as long as he sees fit not to retire.
