The players are going to divide...

Everything went great until the players brought Fehr in.

Both sides are equally at fault. The owners think they can get more. The players think they can get more. Same story since the beginning.

Fehr's at fault. Players are at fault for listening to Fehr.

Fehr's losing control, I feel the Union will break soon.

Ya, this one seems to be on DF. I meant just in general because those two names are getting old. New deal, new era and it would be nice to get these two players out of the game.

That depth player was not on the Avalanche, FYI. That's all I have on this

That deep-inside-players quote came from depth player. They want to play, but top players still in Fehr camp. Could explode soon

From deep inside players side: "We were ready to play again. But Don came in (Wed.) and told us we could get more and to hold out"

Oh mama
I believe that 100%.

Like I said before, the contracting issue actually hurts the run of the mill player.

Don Fehr is going to war for the top 1% of players. If that's not obvious due to the lines in the sand right now on contract length, I don't know what you're watching.

It's a joke. Fehr is every bit the embarassment you guys claim Bettman is.

Don Fehr telling the players to change their tune and that they could do better, apparently.

IF that source is correct about the player and those comments, something has got to give. Soon more will follow. If the NHL offered a decent proposal you can live with, take it. Now's not the time to squeeze out more when there's an offer good enough.

According to GB: Owners offered additional 100M in Make Whole which they saw as a huge stride. Some owners were against it for being too far. It received a lukewarm reaction at best by the PA. Led to owbership opinion that PA/Fehr has "no interest in making a deal".

When you start a negotiation, you know you're not getting the whole pie so you make up your mind as to how much you want to settle for a deal. As time goes on and the pie cools down, you have to get realistic and reduce the amount you're expecting. I don't think the union has done that much. They're still wanting close to what they wanted from day 1.

Apparently one of the owners turned purple

Imagine offering another 100 million, then having no response other than "ok, we'll take it".

The second I read the positive comments from fehr about how close they are and how much the PA gave up, I knew **** was about to get ugly

The writing was on the wall that they knew they were making an offer the NHL was going to refuse

If I saw fehr crossing the street, I wouldn't touch my breaks

When I read Don Cherry tweet on the main board (if true) I starting to understand what happened. The doves who asked for another $100 mil for the make whole received nothing in return.

The doves were now hawks.

Sooo the owners offered 100mil more on the make whole and the union basically said "meh"? I blame both sides. If both sides really wanted to make a deal, it would have happened. **** this I'm getting tired of this ****

To play Devil's advocate however, I believe the thought process on the players side is that the fans come out and spend money to see them, therefore they are entitled. REMEMBER I AGREE WITH YOU!

I could line up 600 people with ease who would play for 1% of HRR. It probably wouldn't amount to $3+ Billion, but the thought process is there.

They've all forgotten that they're fighting over money that comes from US.

This is not true. Fans come out to see their teams. Hockey players have the lowest Q score of all US pro sport athletes, and by a considerable margin. To give perspective, women's volleyball players have a higher rating than most.

Such a disgrace. Finally gaining popularity, ratings up, Rangers finally Cup contenders, and the season on the brink of being toast.

They should expand on the "No Bettman, no Fehr" policy.
24 hours without those two, we almost had a deal and made more progress than ever before.

Bring even just one of those two back in and now look at where we are.

Just get rid of them both and in the mean time, hire a baby sitter from the church as the mediator between the players and the owners.

The league folding is I think a little bit of an over dramatization.

Obviously we're used to following this team close for 82 games a season, having the seasoned cancelled takes a big chunk of enjoyment out of all of our lives.

Even so, I'd give t a week or two, let heads cool. I won't have given up on the season until the statement is made. Sounds like they were close. Maybe they just need some time to think it over, and rationalize.

As for the players, I don''t care too much what they have to say. Many are being quiet and others are toeing the line. In the end we watch them play hockey, not ponder the fate of labor.
