Just caught this about Sid's camp in Phoenix...i'd like to be a fly on the wall to hear that conversation in the dressing room..."you sure didn't see me right? k, just double checking."
"Sidney Crosby (right) has opted to work out the rest of this week in Arizona with several locked out NHLers, including Coyotes defenseman Zbynek Michalek and forward Steve Sullivan, both former Penguins. Also included in the group is Maple Leafs forward and former Capital David Steckel, the player who injured Crosby with a high hit to his head during the 2011 Winter Classic."
French reporter talked to some likely Swiss destinations for Sid. Lugano and Bern say the cost for Sid could be road blocks for them. Lugano 'we have to be wary of our financial situation' Bern 'Doesn't think its doable with the rumored insurance cost numbers on the internet' Zurich couldn't be reached. Lugano is where Patrice Begeron is playing. Dustin Brown is in Zurich. Taveres in Bern.
Penguins winger Tanner Glass, signed as a free agent during the summer, reportedly has signed to play for HC Banska Bystrica of the Extraliga in Slovakia.
Deryk Engelland has left Norway and returned to the US. He needed to sort some stuff at home and then plans to celebrate christmas with his family. He intends to return to Norway after new years if there is no end to the lockout.
He played 15 games for Rosenborg, picked up a goal and eight assists plus 43 penalty minutes and 63 shots. -13 in the +/- column can be exlained by him averaging close to 35 minutes a night for a poor team.
Team was 5-7-3 on his stint here. Engelland has made some very big contributions to the team, our young core has learned a lot from him and he's been greatt with the fans. Hope to have hime back in Norway soon, even if I'm getting pretty sick of this lockout.
We still have three evry big games to play before christmas so I wish he would stay, but we get that we can't expect to be his #1 priority.
Where Sid's gonna play if this lockout thing goes into a deep freeze again is becoming clearer. It seems a Swiss club wants and can afford him:
Crosby said he wanted to let “this sink in” before he started “seriously considering my other options,” notably playing in Europe. His plan is to resume practicing with Penguins teammates at Southpointe next week, but signing with a club in Switzerland now looms as a possibility, he said.
Brisson said an expected next round of canceled games would not impact Crosby’s decision. He also said Crosby will not represent Team Canada or any team at the Spengler Cup, a Swiss tournament held annually between Christmas and New Year’s.
Crosby said signing with a Swiss club is not the message he wants to send to players, owners or fans.
“It’s not the insurance or any concern about my head, or any other reason that I believe we’re too close not to do a deal,” he said. “Nothing has changed my mind on that, and I still do. But I’m going to play hockey somewhere this season. I want it to be in Pittsburgh. That’s what this week was about for me.”

Where he would be lined up with former Penguins great...
I really don't want to think about Crosby playing overseas...but I know if I did the Swiss league would be one of the first places I'd look. Great fans, gorgeous settings, a great place to live. I'd rather play for a bottom-rung team in Switzerland than a middling team in Russia, that's for damn sure.

Plus it's so small, you never have to drive far, you can sleep at home every night. And pay is maybe not as good as in Russia, but probably the best after that plus very low taxes.
Thanks for the info. Is this the rumor over there?
My first thought was Lugano with Bergeron.
I don't think it will be Geneva, Lugano and Zurich are more likely in my opinion.
Anyhow, it's not important where in Switzerland he is going to play...
^I hear you and thanks for the info. I was told Zurich, Bern and Lugano would be likely destinations so that makes sense. I really just need to know cuz i can watch highlights and maybe download some games. lol.
Engelland is practicing with the boys at Southpointe this morning.
Zurich hast the money, but they keep saying they don't want lockout players. However if the season is cancelled, that might change. Bern already has 3 lockout players, but you never know. Lugano is nice and the could really use him and they always seem to find som investor, but I don't see it. McSorley just has the best connections and he's always swinging for the fence. Plus he already has Logan Couture to play alongside Crosby. Time will tell, my big hope is he never comes here, because that probably means we have a season.
