Davidson would be perfect fit for Blues

Blues fans are buzzing about the possibility that John Davidson will become the
next president of the Blues.

He fits so many criteria. He is a former Blues goaltender and he knows most of
this franchise’s great alumni.
The same fans who thought Mike Keenan was going to bring the Cup in St.Louis and then less than three years later,Keenan was kicked out of town

Jeff Gordon sung his praises and then wrote a book about Keenan basically destroying the guy

Ed Olczyk is talking to the Hawks about their TV analyst position on Comcast

Quote:
Olczyk is a Chicago native and did visit that city Friday, but is not believed to have discussed a coaching position when he met with team officials at the United Center. One possibility is that Olczyk was discussing a broadcasting job, because Chicago has decided to stop simulcasting games. The Blackhawks, who have veto power over the makeup of the still-unnamed TV crew, do not televise home games, so Olczyk would be able to maintain his residence here while working as an analyst on road games

Are you putting Keenan and JD in the same book?
True.... some players/coaches do better with some teams than with others
Keenan still is liked up in New York but hated in other cities
Keenan made some awesome trades while in STL
We had Scotty B, as did Detoilet, and Montreal, how do you think Buffalo feels about him?
You will always have the your awesome, then the you suck after most changes

Saw this on ESPN.com.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/playof...ohn&id=2453833

"John Davidson is 99.9 percent assured of becoming the man to run the St. Louis Blues organization. That official announcement will likely come after the Stanley Cup finals. Perhaps, NBC will "break" the official announcement at some point during the final Stanley Cup finals broadcast, perhaps on the postgame show or during the third period if the outcome is obvious."

Keenan won a Cup,took three teams to the finals(with four finals appearances)and had GM experience in Chicago before he went St.Louis.What has Davidson done to warrant all of the exitement? He is broadcaster who plays golf on every day off(weather permitting).John has no experience running a hockey operation or any type of organization.

Davidson's a nice guy and all...

and a great analyst and study of the game, but the question is can he be a manager. He was a player and a broadcaster. Never has he had to manage a group of people and make tough decisions. That's what sets apart the great GMs. Some lesser ones will hold onto guys (like a Kamensky) hoping they'll turn things around, others know when to hold 'em and know when to fold 'em. JD may very well make a good GM - but it's tough to say consider he's never put teams together, nor has he coached any teams. It's easy to sit upstairs and analyze and second guess coaches.

I would consider bringing Phil Esposito back to the MSG booth.Sam Rosen and Phil had very good chemistry. He currently works as the Lightning's radio analyst and has a show on XM

Ed Olczyk joined Comcast Chicago yesterday as the Hawks TV analyst. He wants to retain his current broadcasting duties.Chicago is home for Ed but working in New York would have allowed him to be close to Stamford,CT where OLN has their studios and NBC.Olczyk has worked with Sam Rosen on radio covering the NHL finals.Did the Garden even talk to him about the Rangers gig?How can they when John Davidson is in limbo waiting for his boy Dave Checketts to buy the Blues?Ed loves his horses. In New York, there is Aquaduct,Belmont and Saratoga. The Meadowlands and Monmouth Park aren't far

Quote:
also is trying to finalize a new deal with OLN -- he said something could be worked out "in the next 48 hours" -- and is waiting to see if NBC exercises its option on the second year of his agreement with that network

Like i said in another post in this topic our current Pres. didnt have any hockey knowledge at all, and still don't after all these years. He was in the Pitts. Baseball org. and was going to run a Basketball team if the Wal-Mart A$$hole got his team Davidson is going to be the President, not the GM. He is better than what we have now.

What are Davidson's qualifications for running an organization? He is better than Mark Sauer isn't an answer.Sauer ran the Pirates in the early 1990's with Jim Leyland as manager with Barry Bonds,Bobby Bonilla,Andy Van Slyke and Doug Drabek and they were successful.Like the people on this board give two ***** about the inner-workings of the St.Louis Blues

It isn’t looking like Kitchen will be looking for work after future President John Davidson is expected to extend his contract. I’m hearing Davidson has now accepted a deal to come to St. Louis.

For those Rangers fans out there, expect Dave Maloney to move over from the radio side to replace Davidson on Rangers telecasts. Eddie Olczyk is also a possibility to join either the radio or television team.

He's 'ok', but gets too emotional. He really cares about the game but just doesn't come off sounding professional enough. I think he should stick to radio.
