Went down behind his net. Couldn't put weight on his leg. Two teammates helped him skate off.
That's what I found on twitter.

Ouch, sounds serious, hopefully it wasn't his knee.

That's not good.

Buffalo fans won't be happy, and Buffalo management will be even more unhappy!

Probably did it on purpose to get out of there. I was in Klagenfurt for a few hours once by accident, got terribly bored and took a bus home haha.

Hopefully he's okay though, this would be a blow to the Sabres if they ever play again.

Not that the Sabres would do it, but I wonder if they could void his contract if the injury is bad enough since this was done outside of the scope of NHL hockey?

He's insured but, obviously, the Sabres aren't. I wonder if they have any legal recourse if the injury is serious and they chose to take that route.....not saying they would.

Well, at least the CBA negotiations blew up... This would be a wretched time to start the season for Buffalo: Hodgson, Ennis, Tropp, and Myers all injured.

i almost feel bad that I don't really care. just glad it wasn't a heart condition or something. what's the teams responsibility with medical there? Do they get to pick their own specialists if they want?

At least we would guarantee ourselves a top 5 pick instead of leaving it up to a lottery...

What do they need him for? They've got Marcus Foligno.

Well if the season starts, the Sabres should get the #1 overall. Missing our top 2 centers and our #1 D. LOL

When you put it that way... One of MacKinnon/Barkov/Lindholm/Jones/Monahan/Pulock/etc. would be a nice consolation prize.

You mean the contract the owners chose not to honour because they locked out the players? Even though the players were prepared to play through negotiations?

If it was a strike it's different, but a lockout the players have the right to seek work elsewhere.

That said it's 2012 -- leg injuries are rarely career threatening.

I never said they didn't have the option of finding work elsewhere. What I did ask was if the Sabres could seek avenues to terminate his contract if the injury was severe enough.

Capiche?
