Do you ever remember watching his dad play?
His foot speed needs to improvw for sure, but he is so well positioned that it does not effect him as much as it does too other players in the juniors
Not specifically it's been a long time and I barely got to see any games back then.

I was kid back then, but I remember my dad telling me it was like Frank was skating with bricks in his skates and it seems to me that he sort of passed that on to David and what Oilsp1ll said it also accurate in my opinion
Get him on the ice with Steve Serdachny (sp?) all summer and it shouldn't be a problem.
Michael Grabner, who has some of the best wheels in the game, was tweeting Gagner a few days ago about how he spent some time training with him recently.
Pivots and edging seem good but he does not seem to have great balance and looks clunky when getting up the ice generally.
Really? When I watched him with the Giants, he had great balance, and was really hard to knock off the puck. He definitely needs to work on his first step, but on the whole I don't think his skating is as bad as people make it out to be
If you go to the American WJC roster thread some know it all types will tell you why.
Yeah I saw that. It's a bit frustrating since it's is easy to scroll through the list of forwards pick out names like Matteau, Vesey, and Bardreau and wonder what they'd have on Samuelsson.
To be honest I don't know much about a lot of the NCAA prospects so I have no place arguing. But I doubt many of them in that forum have really ever seen Samuelsson play since his USNTDP days.
I guess there's always next year, but I still would have liked to see him at least get an invite.
How has Musil looked since being traded to the Oil Kings? I'm so pumped to watch this kid eat up 25+ minutes per game for the Czechs at the WJC again! Such a treat to watch. He's going to be a great shutdown guy for you guys one day.

Pretty much all of that. Tbh Im glad he is staying. The Oil Kings need him. Not sure how they plan on replacing Reinhart and Musil, but it could get pretty scary in December/early January.
Im not up on the NCAA/NDTP guys either, but I doubt they are much better than Samuelsson or Erne if at all. The guys I did see last year didnt look very good that's for sure.

Ok I guess. I was expecting a little more from him but he has been alright. He looked great in the WJC last year.

Well I don't know if balance is the right word, he is hard to knock off the puck but he looks like he's going to fall over easily sometimes it's sort of hard to explain. I've watched at least 5 games since he arrived, his skating is below-average at NHL level but I don't think it's like Alex Plante or anything.

It might be because Samuelsson struggled in Sweden on the big ice? I'm not sure. USA Hockey obviously knows who he is from NTDP U-17 team. Thought he should have at least got an invite at least but if I were to guess maybe that is the reason.

Laxdal said today they might put Pollock back on the point and be trying to call up Irving because Reinhart and Musil will both be gone, Mayo will be gone too.. Yikes. Lowe still out with that ankle injury too I believe, that better not flare up or it could get ugly.

Lowe-Corbett
Sautner-Schmoorkoff
Pollock-Irving
That is not cool at all..
I know this sounds horrible, but I am really hoping Reinhart does not make it too team Canada after seeing that line up
The U-17 Challenge runs from Dec 29-Jan 4 in Drummondville and Victoriaville Quebec. The Oil Kings lose Dysin Mayo from the backend, Associate Coach Steve Hamilton and Athletic Therapist Brian Cheeseman to that event. They leave on Boxing Day, and they will all represent Team Pacific (BC/Alberta).

Going to my first game of the season tonight. How does the teddy-bear toss work? Do I buy one at the game or do we bring our own? I've never been at a game before where the bears get tossed.
