Still will count against the cap yes but as long as he doesn't retire LTIR should cover his salary and allow Philli to re allocate that money.

Never nice to see someone's career end by injury, even someone like Pronger who causes his fair share of injuries.

I always liked him. If I ever played hockey I'd try to play like him.

Chara doesn't do it all. He's not the best skater, nor is he the offensive player the Pronger was.

Great player, but that's one less thorn in my side as a Rangers fan.

This.

Chara is almost a Pronger-lite. He's not as good of a skater, passer, his shot isn't as accurate, and I don't think he has the same level of reckless nastiness that Pronger was so good at inflicting on his opponents. If I was going into the playoffs and I had a choice to pick any current #1 D to add to my team, it would be Pronger without second thought.

Pronger was a beast, I'll always like him even though he didn't like edmonton. Just an unreal player. What an amazing sight it was to see in 2006 when pronger picked up the edmonton oilers, put them on his back, and marched to game 7 of the stanley cup finals.

He's a guy who often played over the edge, but that was part of what made him the effective d-man that he was. He was a character off the ice too.

I didn't always respect the way he played, but I respect his accomplishments.

I'm an Oilers fan and I hate Pronger for bailing on us after the playoff run, but I can't deny he's an amazing player. Although I should hate him, he's one of my favorite all time on ice players and off ice personalities.

What an awesome career. I'll miss him in the NHL. I have hopes either Jones or Ekblad can be like him.

The Ducks and Flyers already were deep teams and contenders without Pronger.

Sharks and Capitals have been contenders for years and neither of them have even reached the Stanley Cup Finals...

In the dictionary at hockey player there should be a picture of Chris Pronger. My favourite all-time.

I am glad he is out of the league although not sure I'd wish head trauma for anyone. He is a huge d-bag as a person(from what I've seen) and as a player but was a great one. Good riddance though.

By far the best troll the NHL has seen in the the last 15 years. Smart enough to know the benefits of being annoying. Good at being annoying because he is smart.
