Since 360 version came out this year, I'll say The Witcher 2. If I can't say that, then I'm not sure if any game deserves that distinction.

Borderlands 2 I guess. Nothing IMO is a top notch game that came out . Haven't played Dishonored or FarCry3 yet though. BlackOps2 is good but not GOTY material same with AC3 and ME2.

I have been considering making this thread as well.

*As A PC gamer only*

There are a few that I would suggest. Not including expansions ( Civ V expansion, Skyrim expansions, TW:Shogun expansion etc..)

Dishonored, X-Com, The Walking Dead, Mass Effect 3 (even with the ending it was still very good), Max Payne3 and Football Manager 2013 (doesnt really count but I spend the most time on it), Sleeping Dogs was also quite good. Some I did not play AC3, Boarderlands2 (I have but havent played much) or Far Cry3.

My choice would be ME3, X-com or The Walking Dead. ME3 was expected to be great but the others were huge surprises that turned out great.

edit-and I have never played a COD or BF game so I wont comment on those.

By the way, the 10th annual VGA is on in about 15 minutes, you can watch it live via Xbox Live.

Edit: seems the actual show won't start until an hour alter, don't know what they're showing until then.

Hrm...

Despite my loathing of EA right now and the ending... Mass Effect 3.

Guild Wars 2 and Shogun 2:Total War were also high.

I liked Dishonored... but the animation style was a little cartoony for me. Personal preference, solid game.

I'd say that Halo 4 and Far Cry 3 really ****ed up the story aspects of their game, same with Dishonored the story fell flat and most of the characters weren't rememberable.

TWD Can't win because of all the technical issues it has.

My top picks would be ME3, Journey, Fez, X-COM and Xenoblade.

I agree about the lack of memorable characters in Dishonored. I could hardly distinguish between all the bar bros.

One other I just thought of Diablo3, I never played it and it seems like it was a huge disappointment but it was a AAA title that many did play.

Despite the ending, I'm still picking ME3. I can't let the last five minutes ruin the previous 35 or so hours. I still play the multiplayer regularly, too.
