Can't believe people are calling out the mom for this.

Please, don't have kids. If Santa told my kid that his favorite thing in the world sucked, I'd be livid too.

Hmmm. I think I know what words I'm going to be repeating to my baby niece for the next 10 months.

Seriously? People have acknowledged he shouldn't have said that about the Leafs even though it's true. Nobody understands why she who dresses her kid in a lumber jacket thinks Paul Bunyon is an insult.

She never said it was an insult per se. She said it's an inappropriate thing for Santa to say, which it was. Why is Santa criticizing the kid's clothing in the first place?

And it was mainly this part of his post
Quote:

First, she didn't make a big deal of it. If he just said he looked like Paul Bunyan, and then proceeded to actually do his job at Santa, she probably wouldn't have cared. A little surprised yes, but that wasn't the tipping point.
Second, I wouldn't call her a ***** **** ***** ****ing **** just because she cares about her son's feelings. You should use those censored adjectives to describe Santa.

Hilarious. Why do I imagine that this Santa also as a bottle of whisky in his hand.

It almost as funny that the mom went to the lengths of filing a formal complaint

If this was in a movie we would all laugh, especially at the scene where the mom goes nuts and the kid is crying.

Not to defend the Santa guy though, not doing his job too well there.

If I'm taking my 3 yr old to see Santa, I'm not interested in Santa's attempt at stand up comedy.

I want him to give a few ho ho ho laughs, ask my kid what he'd like for christmas and then smile for their christmas photo. That's it.

That's what he's getting paid for.

Or was

They haven't lost any games either.

Funniest story this whole lockout, though Santa is a d***.

There is zero indication from the article that the kid had hurt feelings over the comments. In fact, it appears he was more hurt over his mother's actions -- removing him from Santa.

I don't see anything inherently wrong with speaking the truth. As a Leaf fan, this is the truth. Perhaps the mother should try it also, since this is what got someone fired. She should start with Santa Clause.

This is probably the type of mom that complains when her son gets tackled too hard playing football. Or who got dodge ball banned from gym class. Or got "unhealthy snacks" removed from vending machines. Or didn't sign a parental consent sheet to allow her kid to go on a field trip. Or complained that recess was too long.

My point is no sense in rationalizing it. There are over-protective parents everywhere. This being one of those cases.

Santa must be a Sens AND a Habs fan.

My God I would laugh so hard if I had a kid and a mall Santa told him the Rangers or the Wild sucked.

There is zero indication from the article that that was it either. In my opinion, the first one seems more likely, but to each his own.

Like others have stated earlier, there is a thing called "age appropriate". What he said wasn't age appropriate, and you can't criticize the mother for not telling her 3-year old son that Santa doesn't exist. If the kid was 8, I'd probably let it slide, but not at 3.

Laughed when Santa told the kid the Leafs suck.

Laughed harder when the kid cried all the way home.

Leafs do suck, but sometimes you have to tell kids little white lies to make them believe in fairy tales.

This is nothing.

Just this evening my daughter was helping to shape the branches of our new Christmas tree and Mrs. Timmy told her she was doing a great job of fluffing it out.

"On Monday you should tell your teacher you're a professional fluffer," I told my daughter, who beamed with pride.

Mrs. Timmy had to explain to her that this wouldn't be a very good idea, and gave me a very un-Yuletide look.

Maybe because he was dragged away before he got to see Santa.

Of course, blame your bad parenting on anyone else.
You have a point. It's more likely that she was the one who was "very, very upset" with Santa's behavior and her son was only upset that she yanked him away before he could ask Santa for a present. Kids that age aren't aware enough to understand and be offended by what Santa said. Also, kids that age don't wear sports gear because they choose to. His Leafs-loving parents bought the tuque for him and made him wear it out of the house that day. Somewhat predictably, a parent misunderstands what her kid is feeling and projects her own feelings on him.

It's more likely that she's a die-hard Leafs fan and is pissed that she got owned for putting a stupid Leafs toque on the poor kid's head.
