Dodgers will be a force. They aren't a great example because none of those stars they acquired were with the team since the start of the year. Not to mention Kemp was out for a large portion of the season.

I remember their 2011 roster was hyped, but the expectations I think crippled for the next year once Tito got offed and they signed Valentine.

Thats why I said "On paper" they would have arguably the best roster. Your right theres no gurantees that adding a truckload of good players will mean success and playoffs/titles but I was moreso talking from a odds standpoint and if we aquired Dickey we would prolly be the favorites according to the bookmakers. Either way its pretty cool that you can even argue that one addition could vault us into having one of if not the best team on paper.

I hadn't heard anything certain regarding Oliver. Even that "I'll only play for Texas this year" report hasn't been verified. I think all situations are still in play for him.

I do agree with this overall, but if you look at the big names the Dodgers brought in, I think you can argue its a different scenario, Ramirez, Beckett, AGon, Victorino were all on down years (perhaps declining? who knows) and Crawford was injured.

I see your point, however. I just mean I feel as though they could be a poor example, because I remember thinking at all of there trades "Thats pretty ballsy"

Not to mention Kemp missed a lot of time.

San Fran won without Lincecum (mine as well say) which most people would have said was impossible at the start of the year. This is why I'm not too excited, winners aren't decided in the offseason

Quote from Fangraphs on Osuna.

"If American, his[Robert Osuna] age (turns 18 in February) would put him in this year’s prep draft class and, while I haven’t seen every top arm, he would likely be the top-ranked high school pitcher in the country."

That's great news for a guy who knows nothing about him. Seems like the loss of Nicholino really didn't hurt the Jays pitching pool very much. Quite the stable AA has assembled over last few years.

He shot up the ranks this year. He'll be a name you remember.

Chase DeJong is another name to watch for.

Small sample size but he was ridiculous at Bluefield (15K's in 12 innings and only 1 walk) and you hear alot of Adam Wainwright comparisons with him.

He was already a well known name when he signed but yup, he had a huge year and is super young. Stuff ticked up as well and he is very advanced for his age. He will likely start in Lansing as an 18 year old next season.

Aaron Sanchez for example, started in Lansing as a 19 year old and was young for the league.

Because I did an avatar yesterday and tinkered in photoshop again today, I had a random urge just to do this as well. Because why not.

One of the things I like most about is his arm action.

(Osuna @ :22)

I meant in our system he wasn't a talked about prospect but this season he shot up our rankings which will put his name out there to were more people will now be very aware of him and talk about him.

If he continues to shoot up the rankings, is it possible that he reaches the majros at 20? When was the last time we saw a 20 year old starting pitcher.

Still don't see why the age matters. We only would absolutely need him to be in good form for the next 2-3 years, and in a perfect world he pitches for 6-7 like a Tim Wakefield.

Kershaw, Cain, Teheran and Porcello were all 20 when they made their debuts.

Hernandez and Bumgarner were 19.

He's not a Tim Wakefield-like knuckleballer. Dickey throws around 80mph.

I'm so pumped that Reyes is a Blue Jay. He seems so into the team already and is a proud member even though he's yet to play a game. I hope Johnson and Buerhle feel the same way.
