Did you take this from the Don Cherry impersonator on Dragons Den from a couple years back?

The funniest part about this story is Santa saying that the kid looked like Paul Bunyan.

Maybe the kid was going to ask Santa for a power winger for his team. That stupid mother just assured the Leafs of one more generation of futility.

The kid is 3. He doesn't care at all about hockey.

A person got fired for violating the policy of his employer?

No news here.

Has anyone heard the Santa's side, or actually seen any evidence of how it played out? It could even have been a good natured ribbing. When my little cousin was about that age, if you told him the Flames sucked, he would have gotten a big grin on his face and said "no way, Iginla rocks!"

Maybe it happened the way the lady said, but a lot of customers lie when they're not happy about something, no matter how ridiculous the thing is. I've had customers call up, and ask how to use products they've bought, documented the conversation on their file, and had them call up a week later when they've done something stupid, and claim that "the guy before" didn't tell them anything. The place I work has a customer support system - I've had customers do something stupid, and claim it's our fault, because we never followed up with them - yet I go into their file, and see left message after left message after left message, and the phone records back it up. I even had a customer who called in to speak to management and try to have me disciplined for being snotty because I thanked them for calling. They were absolutely obnoxious, and decided that I must have been being snotty because I kept my cool and was polite - their interpretation - and if I were to just be judged on their interpretation, maybe I would have been fired, however there are thousands of recorded calls where I end the conversation the same way.

And the Paul Bunyan thing? I saw you mention that it wasn't the tipping point - really, it shouldn't even have been a factor. What boy who knows who Paul Bunyan is wouldn't have wanted to be compared to Paul Bunyan?

Frankly, unless the story was substantiated, or the guy has a history of complaints, he shouldn't have been fired.

I like how the Canadian version looks like it's taped in some abandoned warehouse.

The mom thinks a Paul Bunyon comparison is "inappropriate".

Her opinion should not matter.

Hilarious. What a great story. But yeah Santa's should not be doing that. I think everyone in this article is correct, from the mom for complaining, the employer for firing, and even Santa.
