Doesn't really change the fact that this is an awful trade and just a ploy to get Helm.

Holland laughs, and hangs up the phone.

Datsyuk and Zetterberg will retire as Wings.

That's fine but if you read the entire thread, I spoke with a few wings fans and tweaked the deal to take helm out and change the leafs first to a second. So thats a 45 point # 2 dman, a 55 point center and at minimum a 40 point winger and a second in a very deep draft. This may not be somthing holland would like to do but dont act like I offered up crap.

This is by far the worst trade I have ever seen on this site.

Why do Leafs do this?

Zetterberg is an undersized physical player with chronic back problems going on 33. If I had to bet on someone going on a serious decline in their mid 30s Zetteberg and Mike Richards would be at the top of the list.

^The only player to outscore Zetterberg after Christmas last year was Malkin. Aside from Justin Schultz and Brunner Id be inclined to say nobody out there is as hot as Zetterberg right now either.

Z is only physical in the playoffs - those back to back to back runs took a toll on him, as did the late season knee injury in 2011. For the first time in 3 years I think hes finally healthy again and its showing in his production.

You don't understand. Holland would laugh and hang up the phone. Wings don't trade players like Zetterberg, doesn't matter how you tweak anything. He will retire a Red Wing.

Also, outside of Briere, I don't think anyone has been a consistent beast in the playoffs like Zetterberg. After watching some of his highlights this year playing with Brunner. Your right, he looks healthy, I think in the last 2 games they have 12 points between them.

Detroit gets a number 1 dman as well as a very good 2c, and a top 6 winger, and a 1st. Toronto could put zetterberg on a line with lupul and kessel and helm would be an ideal 3c. I think this deal gives each team what they need. What do all of you think

I'm not sure why the Leafs would do this. Henrik Zetterberg of 2013 or whatever is not going to be the same 92 point scoring two way threat as he was in 2008. Upgrading from Grabovski to Zetterberg at center at the expense of a defenseman who would automatically be Detroit's number one, throwing in an extra NHL capable forward and then giving away a big slice of our future in the 2014 pick is just insane. Helm doesn't bridge the difference for us either.

But yeah, Leafs are garbage yada yada yada...

I didn't see that part of the offer.

Zetterberg was 8th in scoring in 2010-11. He was 2nd in scoring from Christmas 2011 to the end of 2011-12.

He's a Selke caliber forward. He is a high caliber scoring forward. He would be moving to the more offensive conference and playing with more talented linemates. What kind of numbers do you think he'd put up?

I would love if all threads on this board would be required to be based out of some rumor to prevent all these crazy proposals.
