Liverpool need a striker and not another midfielder. Joe Allen's a very good retainer, Sahin a very gifted playmaker and between Henderson, Lucas, Gerrard's corpse and Suso, they've got the bodies to have one the EPL's better midfields. What they lack is anyone to score those goals. And since they don't seem to believe in Yesil yet, that means they're going to ahve to bring someone in so that Suarez doesn't need to score every goal. With the money getting Xabi would take they might as well spend a little more going after Llorente or even really go all out and pay up for Falcao. That's a move that puts Liverpool in great position to make a run after one of the two CL spots not occupied by the manchester clubs.

even with another striker there's no way lpfc sniffs top 4. chelsea tottenham everton are markedly better, and swansea and west brom will probably stay ahead on the table. not to mention arsenal who are dysfunctional but have more talent and will push back into the 5-7 range. Liverpool will struggle to be in the top eight.

Depends on who they get, they create plenty of chances and do a very good job of retaining the ball with that midfield, especially in a league where most of the top teams don't have great midfields, it's just that other than Suarez, no one who they play can finish. Stick a Llorente up front and you'll see them launch up the standings. Probably not into the top 4, but with a clinical finisher playing with Suarez up top, they're not behind Tottenham, Everton or Arsenal.
Liverpool would finish top four with a legitimate quality striker, not this season as it's probably too late, but next we'd have a good chance. It will do the club a lot of good for the younger players who are currently being used to have more experience a year from now. People are talking about Liverpool having a poor start but also neglecting that we're right there with everyone else. Should have four more points as wins were taken away against Everton and Swansea by two awful officiating decisions but such is life.
We'll finish 8th or above no problem, but I would rather win the Europa League than claim that to be an achievement.
And if we're talking about unrealistic transfer moves I would rather bid for Cavani than Llorente.
EDIT: A Luis Garcia type would also be great.

It's really no surprise. With the emergence of Jenkinson, it was just a matter of time before we lost our best RB.
Arsenal is now tagged as a "feeding club" for the money spending teams and have become satisfied with a 4th place finish in league play, giving them a CL bid to generate more money... with no real asperation to win it all.
The fans, IMO, are getting short changed for the past couple of years and that's a sad thing to see, from a once proud fc.
You can go to a point until players realize things aren't going to change, the last few seasons Wenger was doing his best to try and pause this outcome, but it is now inevitable and the worst case is he might lose his job because of these Godforsaken owners.

You can't forget that in the past couple of years, Wenger HAD to make around a 20-30Million pound profit to pay off the stadium construction fees. Now that it is almost paid off, HE will should that money. The new Emirates sponsorship money will be directly used for the club's on pitch product (Transfer fees + player wages). If this deal was signed 2-3 years ago, those 30 million pounds would of have probably been used to help pay off the stadium's construction fee's.
I'm giving the board 2 years to prove that they actually are ambitious. With the stadium almost fully paid of, the new kit sponsors (Ethihad) & upcoming renewal of kit suppliers, I'll be intrigued to see if they really use all of that money for player wages & transfer fees as they say they plan to do.
Arsene also stated he wanted to build the backbone of this team around English, gritty and full of heart player. Which could explain why he only offered a one year deal to Sagna, because he expects Jenkinson to keep progressing.
Also can't wait for some of our players to get god darn work permits.. Joel Campbell & Wellington Silva are two good players that we can add to our squad. The club has a long list of players with high potential such as Ryo & Afobe. Also got players in the U21's, such as Gnabry and Eisfeld. Lots of amazing young talent. But now, what Wenger needs to do, is to buy players that will make those young guys want to be part of this team and hopefully, a successful one.

There were also two matches where a striker brought on wins the match in all probability.
If they buy a decent striker, they're going to be markedly improved. Their defense is alright, and they do have some midfielders. Lucas being healthy is critical, but they're better than their record stands.

Lucas is a big key, maybe too big... so that might be an area they would like to add depth to as well.
I see adding a striker as an absolute priority though, given the sniffing going on around suarez. Scary thought where the club would be without him. While I'm not optimistic of suarez sticking around for the long term, I really like the direction this club is heading overall. While the record doesn't look great, I feel like the club is finally navigating towards clear waters.
Why does China seem to be the Asian destination for ex-stars in Europe? J-League and K-League are more prestigious leagues with better competition. They also send young players to Europe. Surely, J-League and K-League have more money, right?

China offers ridiculous amounts of money. I think Drogba got like 15 million to play half of the season.

I highly disagree with that statement, liverpool are one of the best defensive teams in the epl. If they acquire another striker which is looking like a huge possibility at this moment, they will become one of the most feared teams to play against.

Don't be fooled by the stories coming out of China (Drogba's team apparently not being able to pay his wages, etc.). There is plenty of money in China. Just like Qatar there are some pretty rich "businessmen" and conglomerates just looking to throw money away. In a few years, I could see the Chinese league grow from strength to strength. Kind of like the Russian league right now.
new PSG signing Lucas Moura is one heck of a promise...kid is so strong, agile, mad skills, and a rocket of a shot. Looks like PSG got their Ronaldinho replacement without a doubt, very similar style of play.

The problem for the Chinese league is that they have no "in" to European football, that's gonna make them a no-no for guys on the way up rather the way down. Russia and Ukraine mean CL football, China doesn't.

I mean in terms of international coverage, financial power and quality. Obviously all top players will go through Europe first. But China could be the next MLS in terms of bringing in players who are over the hill and attract interest that way.

And here I thought that Beckham was gonna easily choose to go to Australia. But all I've heard is that the A-League is just not a quality league and the MLS is more popular in the US than the A-League is in Australia. Why isn't there enough love for their top-flight soccer?

He doesn't really use his skills as much as Ronaldinho. Lucas is way more direct, which will suit him better at PSG. Will be interesting to see how he adapts. Especially since he arrives in France's winter time. Big change from the Sao Paulo heat
Russia Today says that Zenit and Arsenal had agreed in as part of an exchange with Igor Denisov (Problems with the club and the Hulk situation). Some cash to be involved as well
L'equipe also mentioning that Arsenal are closing in in Klaas Jan Huntelaar. Metro reports it is for only £4m. Is his contract running out this off season?

yup.
still think you'd have to pay more, closer to 7 maybe.
