I haven't heard nothing, but meniscus surgery is very minor from my experiences. I haven't had it, but most people that do are walking in a few days and back to work in a week or two. Granted for a hockey player it might be a bit worse, I just wouldn't count on it being a 3-6 month issue.

Come on Joe this is the Oilers we're talking about. His meniscus surgery will likely turn into a foot amputation.

Which is awesome. It just shows that he's more engaged in these games. Hopefully he brings this intensity over. Would be exciting to see!

Might just be in town for medical reasons, if he did sustain an injury I'm sure the Oilers would want to be involved. Like how Klefbom came to town to have his shoulder checked out. I know he left off the Czech EHT roster because of 'injury' and there were rumors of a meniscus tear or something a week or so ago...

I spoke to Ladislav Smid today. He is back in Edmonton getting his knee checked out. The doctor told him it is only a sprain and he should be back playing in a few weeks. He won't rush it, and will stay in Edmonton until after Christmas. If there is no progress in the lockout he will return to the the Czech republic to play.

Today (17:30 CET) will play Ales Hemsky for Czech national team vs Finland... HeŽll propably play with Krejci and Voracek...
Voracek - Krejci - Hemsky is pretty nice combo imo

good news about smid, i'm really starting to wonder if omark has a future with the oilers.. if this wow trade does happen and he is not a part of it..there might be room for him to get a chance to play with some of our skilled players, i think he has a good relationship with ralph.. renney was just horrible for misshandling players

would love to see hemsky and yak playing together and that will probably be the case, if gagner isnt clicking too well with them RNH would definately make that line top notch. and gagner does work fairly well with hall and ebs.. i love ebs and rnh together and normally would hate the idea of them being split as i think they have some amazing chemistry together..but now with schultz in the picture and the great chemistry he and eberle already have i'd be happy to see RNH go and skyrocket yak and hemskys game

It would be an incredible turn of events for the Oilers if Hemsky recovered his old form and managed to stay healthy. The team will need solid veteran talent going forward if they want to make any noice in the playoffs.

Not to mention what treat it would be for the fans.

Not to mention one of those seasons included a trip to game 7 of the stanley cup finals with a heartbreak finish. He has also had a couple serious injuries and a ton of minor ones. A guy like Hemsky has a lot of things to teach young, skilled players.

"This, this is what you make sure you don't do to your shoulder. This is what you do against Detroit, especially in the playoffs. Rated R, however... you kids old enough?"

Not on the Hemsky trade wagon. Think he's going to come back from this lockout break like a man on a mission. Want to see what he can do with Yakupov.

Yes I do.

I expect nothing short of 70 pouts from Ales in the next full season.

It's unrealistic to expect 70 points out of him when he will probably be on the second line and second power play unit for most of the year.
