Any of you excited for this game like I am? IGN released a 15 minute gameplay video today, looks like a much darker, slower, and more realistic uncharted. The environments look pretty great, and the integrated dialogue with gameplay seems fantastic.
I really don't want to buy a new console this late in the generation...but this game may force me to do so.
If you can wait 6-8 months or so after this game comes out (which I have to assume will be before E3 2013), you can probably pick up a PS3 for a hundred bucks or less around Christmas 2013. With all the new stuff coming out retailers will want to clear inventory out.
I'm not one to gush about games, but this game looks absolutely ridiculous!!! The fighting looks better than I've ever seen. So smooth and realistic. This whole clip looks like a movie. This could be game of the year no question.
Before people start to bash on this game, they should really watch the gameplay videos on this. They played the same level twice, yet completely, or mostly different results both times. This is being developed by Naughty Dog so you know its going to be at least as good as Uncharted and this is looking to have the advanced AI we've seen in a console game.
Naughty Dog will release a story trailer for The Last of Us on December 10, 2012. You can take an early peek at what's to come in the above teaser clip, which offers the briefest of glimpses at a bad situation that's about to turn ugly.
Little is known about The Last of Us other than the fact that it follows protagonists Joel and Ellie on a road trip across post-apocalyptic North America. There are post-human "infected" types roaming the landscape (read: mushroom-headed zombies), bandits galore, ruined cities, and a relative absence of hope. This teaser certainly seems to be setting us up for a very grim picture of the future. Look for the full trailer next Monday.
Five months. That’s all that separates you from The Last of Us. Tonight, during the Spike TV Video Game Awards, Sony debuted a new trailer for The Last of Us, and it just so happened to end with the title’s release date for North America and Europe: May 7, 2013.
I haven't seen any quick time events. Context-sensitive actions with prompts are not quick time events. "Press X to stealth kill" is not a QTE, it's a context-sensitive action (the context is you snuck up on a dude). A quick time event is a sequence that requires you to hit the right buttons/timing to go forward. Context sensitive is just "Press your usual jump button to jump across this gap".
And I dunno, I prefer the game being smart and switching "punch" to "open door" when I'm standing near a door rather than having a separate, dedicated button for opening doors.
