Crosby: What could have been

Looks like we are heading for a third straight year that's a writeoff for Crosby. What do you think his numbers would have looked like over the past three years if no concussion or lockout.

A lot of points and a big shiny cup. I suppose nobody remembers how dominant the Penguins and Crosby were the year he got hurt, but it was pretty scary.

Edit: I wonder how many years it'll be before Steckel admits that wasn't entirely unintentional.

You can't keep up the play he was having the whole entire year so average under 120

I think he could've averaged 130 points. He got 66 points in 41 games in 2010-11, then 37 in 22 in a shortened season where he was obviously still rusty. He raised his game, and at his best he dominates the entire ice like it's no one's business.

He's done it before. And, over the last 82 games, he's scored 130+ points.

The guy averages 110 points a year and now he's not going to put up 120+ in a career year, just as he's entering his prime?

He's the best and all, but there's no way I think he would average 120+ points.

Also, how can anyone possibly think he would average 50+ goals? He only has one 50 goal season, and only in one of his shortened seasons he was on pace for 50+.

Look at what he accomplished at ages 18-21 and he probably wouldve improved as he got older

If you adjust every season in which he played less than 82 games, he wouldn't be averaging 120 points. Some of those seasons include years where he was older than 21.

Well, in 10-11 all he would've needed is 18 goals/ 54 points in the remaining 41 games of the seasons to get 50 goals/120 points, which is almost .1 below his career PPG. It's safe to assume he would've easily achieved 120 points that year, and possibly even 130+ pts, considering he was coming off a 25 games 50 points streak.

Last season, Crosby was almost playing at a 1,7 PPG clip. He would've needed 42 goals in the remaining 60 games (unlikely, but not impossible) to get 50 goals, and 83 points over the last 60 games to get 120 points, which is slightly below is career average PPG.

All in all, I think he would've easily get 50 goals / 120+ points in 10-11, and while 50 goals would've been harder to achieve last season, he was on pace to get much more than 120 points (138, to be exact). And that's without accounting for the time he lost due injury, which most definitely made him rusty at times.

True, but how about the seasons prior? This OP is asking how what he would average if he never got injured and if there is no lockout. In his first few years, he wouldn't be averaging this, which will bring down his average that the poll is asking for.

Well, he says only the last 3 seasons, which only includes the 51 goals / 109 points season in 09/10.

So basically, to bring his average at 120 pts / 50 goals over the last 3 years, he would only need to produce roughly 125 points/50 goals over his last two shortened seasons.

Oh, I didn't see the last 3 years part. I guess it's possible. If I had to choose something other than below 120 points, because I don't think it's easy to predict someone to get that, I would vote for 40+ goals with 120+ points.

He puts up huge regular season numbers with Malkin and everyone says why bother playing the playoffs and they flame out in round 1 or 2 again.
