Is the Canucks sellout streak over ?

I've been a fan for a long, long time but I must admit my interest in the Canucks is starting to evaporate. There must be a lot of NHL fans who were less passionate about their team than people like us who frequent HF. I wonder how badly the league will be hurt by the lockout ? Will the weaker teams in questionable markets really have their attendance fall off the map ?

Personally I'd like to see a number of teams permanently lose enough ticket sales to put them into such financial difficulty that they move to stronger hockey markets. ( hello Quebec, Hamilton etc )

Anyway, once the league starts up again, how badly do you think attendance will drop off around the league and which teams will be hurt the most ?

What I meant was .... Will they continue to sell every ticket to every home game once the season starts up. ?.

The only way that the fans could prevent similar lockout nonsense in the future would be to affect the bottom line once this BS is resolved. (ie not attending games, not watching televised games, not buying merchandise).

As much as my disgust for all things CBA related, I honestly don't think this will happen. We came back in droves last time, like an abused animal that crawls back to the abuser at dinner time, which only strengthened the resolve of the bargaining party's that they can give lip-service to the fans, and the bottom line will be fine.

Would 1 month of non-sellouts for the Canucks be a message? 1 year? I predict no missed tickets or revenue once this is resolved, unfortunately. So much for power to the people.

I agree with the OP's sentiment and this is a completely unneccessary lockout

However, I find it hard to blame the Canucks organization based on the circumstances.

Theres no way the Canucks (Leafs, Habs, Rangers, etc) ownership are in favor of this lockout. They were basically printing money during the last CBA

I see the brand even improving after the lockout. I'm starving and I'll feed once it's back.

So just go crawling right back to them. That'll show 'em!

I'll watch games on tv but for the near future I'm not giving the NHL or the Canucks a cent of my money.

I suspect Canuck fans will fill the rink, maybe not right away but eventually. I can't see interest returning from the moment the first game is played.

I don't think teams in the weaker markets will have it so easy and I can see a lot of games drawing really small numbers.

What? It's going to fill immediately. The city misses hockey.

Not everybody cares about proving a point, some people just want to go have a fun time at a hockey game.

and not everyone HAS TO prove a point. I just think running right back to the NHL & accepting their "Thank You Fans" that will get written on the ice shows them they can push us around all they want but we'll be back!

Oh the fans came crawling back after that 2012 lockout, having one in 2018 won't be SO bad...

Tix will sell out quicker than ever. " Last chance to see Luongo in a Canuck uniform", should do the trick.

The way I see it, living in Canada and being a fan of a Canadian team will mean any protest I attempt to initiate will amount to squat. We will come back. We will always come back. It's in our blood and woven into the fabric of our nation.

On the other hand, I'm confident the hockey fans down south is dissatisfied and will make that point for me.

I live in a world where I KNOW the NHL doesn't care about me, so why should I give them any of my money? I'll watch the games from home & for a while won't be spending money on NHL related items. Does it make a difference? No. Because it won't make a difference does that mean I won't do it ? No

The sellout streak ended last season and the long wait list for season tickets has virtually disappeared, not something the organization wants the media to talk about though.

Those are your choices to make. I choose to do what I enjoy doing rather than sit at home trying to make a point. Canucks ownership nor its players are able to either create this problem or solve it on their own. No need for me to send them any messages. Now if they suck on the ice that is a different story. I am not going to spend $200 a game to watch garbage. That is when I will stay home and watch. To each his own.

Watching them on TV = higher TV ratings = bigger TV deals = you giving them money indirectly

Last I heard there a 7 year waiting list so I'm doubting this.
