A lot of my favourite jerseys are third jerseys. Wild, Sens, Devils, Sabres, Blue Jackets, Kings, Flames, Capitals, Hurricanes and Blackhawks all have great alternates.
Sidenote, I was admiring the London Knights alternates, does anyone else think that a similar looking Dallas alternate could be great? Here's the Knights jersey:
I don't get why people are in love with those jerseys. They are so ugly, just because they're old and considered classic doesn't mean they are good looking jersey. The current home/away jerseys for the kings are so bad a** they're amazing, and I'm a ducks fan, the glitter on them doesn't make them look bad like their last jerseys. The purple and yellow jerseys need to be only out maybe once a year for retro night or something, but it shouldnt be their main 3rd jersey.
As as was said the earlier Ballard era 3rds of last season, sucked.
The Smythe era Leaf, was far better, and a contender for #1
I'm of the opinion that the Ballard maple leaf is a curse holding the Leafs back and the only way to fix it is to stop using it, permanently.
Though I understand that their current uniforms are associated with the great Leafs teams of the early 1990s and Wendel Clark/Doug Gilmour, they should permanently switch over to these. At least they're not tainted via association with Harold Ballard.

Calgary, Ottawa, Toronto, and the Kings purple( not sure if that's an alternate or just a throw back for fun). They should all move those alts to perms.

They aren't ugly. I wouldn't wear one in person, but on the ice they look amazing.
I agree with you about the current black/white uniforms. They are badass.
