Thank God, but now us Cubs fans still have to deal with him but at least there are many alternatives in baseball. He was basically the guy for the Hawks. I hope they bring in someone competent.

I doubt they replace him. They went the whole year without a Sox guy. Now with the lockout, they figure why pay someone to cover nothing, so the Sox get Padilla back.
Wish he went to the White Sox or the Bulls.... so that I wouldn't have to pay attention to him at all.
Kind of surprising that ESPN couldn't get a bigger get for the Cubs beat.
Well they were never looking to hire anyone else, so there was never gonna be a better get. Common sense tells me Padilla had the option to stay with the cubs or go back to doing the Sox. He chose the latter, and the cubs were left for Rogers. They weren't gonna let him go because of the lockout, so they just shuffled around.
Rogers was terrible, he had no business covering hockey anyway.
Agreed, wholeheartedly. He was a guy who just fell into the job back when the Hawks were in the abyss and no one else probably wanted it. There are literally a number of people in this forum that could have done a better job covering hockey and are more educated. As someone else stated, I could tolerate (a little) his online articles and bits but listening to him speak was akin to taking icepicks to my eardrums.
I wish him well. It's nothing personal against Jesse the guy/human being, but Jesse the hockey guy; good riddance.
Why oh why didn't they move Rogers to the White Sox. Oh well, at least the Cubs still have the Bruces' (Levine and Miles).
From what it seems to me, Doug Padilla was not happy being moved to the Cubs last season. He had covered the Sox for an awfully long time with the Sun-Times before the move to ESPNChicago. I'm sure when the option to go back to the Sox was given, he jumped at it.
Bruce Levine covers both, BTW.
