Yikes! hope you're ok

Today I went for a skate in a public session for the first time in months. Dodging small children is great for agility training

Set alarms to wake up by 4:15am to get to a 530 pickup/stick time. I was so eager to skate I woke up at 345 and never got back to sleep. As I sit in the parking lot waiting for the rink to unlock, I'm thinking how much I like playing the game of hockey.

Lost 3-0 last night. It sucks because we've shown we can beat any team, but when teams get in our heads we fall apart, arguing every call, taking cheap shots. I love these guys but they can be frustrating.

I did realize I'm playing too timid though, we've been winning a lot of games and I was just playing my lanes, getting it deep...when we are losing I found I have the ability to cause momentum changes if I desire, so next Friday should be interesting for me. Could be a growth opportunity.

Too bad we couldn't get enough people for pickup last night at 1100...had to cancel it.

Why? You have four days to get as healthy as possible and then suck it up for 90 mins for your teammates, and that's assuming the steps you take in the next four days don't have you closer to 100%.

Or you just sit it out because you don't feel well.

Haha that is the goal but we have a few pretty good subs so if I cant get close to 100% we'll do better with one of them than a hole in the team. Either way I'll be bringing beer.

Man, I have to be in a wheelchair or a hospital to miss a league game.

Also, Sudafed does wonders. Just don't make a habit out of it.

Played first game at forward on Saturday...

Wow we are terrible in our end. Our center...not sure where he was, but I kept having to come down from the point to tie up the extra man in the high slot. And pretty much any time we'd get the puck in our end it was a slap pass right to their guy at the point or the slot.

Their defenders weren't great but their centers were fast and that put a lot of pressure on me trying to rush the puck up. Didn't get a lot of good shots on net. I had maybe 7 SOG and 6 missed shots.

Play of the night for me was rushing the puck from behind my goal and beating everyone on their team up the ice. I tried the moved to split the defenders rather than attack one directly and it worked, then deked the goalie, got him dropped and out of the net, backhander...way wide of the goal. I cannot put away that move. The first non-garbage goal I ever scored six years ago was the forehand backhand deke and I haven't put it away ever since.

On the plus side, we only lost 2-1 so that's an improvement. I still haven't had a positive plus-minus game yet and am on pace for -32 this year.

That's -26 in Farenheit, that sounds a bit better

last night I was having a crappy game, not awful but just couldn't get my head in the game as was thinking about work (and usually hockey is an escape from that). So I was annoyed and I decided to cross-check a guy in the back who was standing in front of our goal - not real hard or anything but just hard enough to knock him down. Felt good. Plus it was the dope who walked off with my stick 2 weeks ago so that felt even better. I'm not usually like that though

When all else fails, beat people up. That's our motto!

Last night we got our ***** handed to us. We were just lazy all around and were missing our speed guys against the fastest team in the division. We would have walked any other team. Perfect storm.

I also picked up an APX, can't wait to use it.

Tried the 30:30 kettlebells last night. That was a real ass kicker. I think my form is improving too. But wow was I worn out after 15 minutes of that.

Tonight I'm going to do pushups, body rows, and I think I'll do wall sits for the quads.

Signed up on HF, probably ordering some things from Eleven Hockey thanks to Jarick (think that's how you spell it) and looking for another outdoor roller rink with boards.

The one that is 10 minutes from my house has these awful boards with chicken wire around them. Hoping to find one's with standard glass, real tired of getting checked into chicken wire.

Also made the switch to two piece shaft combo today. Composite just doesn't do it for me and I can feel my current breaking any day now. Big crack on the shaft. Busy day.

Welcome!

I haven't ordered custom blades from them but they were the old Christian factory. I have used Christian blades and they are as good as it gets for wood blades. Solid feel and light weight...and yes you can bend them, I've made some wicked toe curves.
