They just showed the play where Gardiner got hit which is why they think he isn't playing, but they did mention Gardiner got up and scored after that hit.

Taking him out may just be precautionary, the score was beginning to be heavily in the Marlies favour. The play didn't exactly look like Gardiner would get a concussion, I don't think his head hit the boards or the ice.

Gysbers and Fraser pretty weak pairing, but neither are really prospects anyway.
