Of active past Flyers, who would you love to still have on the team?

I wouldn't say the Flyers gave up on Sbisa, but he wasn't and still isn't close to being as good as the team thought he was.

Dude, JvR played the season with the Flyers, and then played the PostSeason... was traded for Luke Schenn and was LockedOut with all the other players before he could report to his Camp... In essence he has not really been gone from anything here... You haven't had a chance to say you miss him.

IMO it wasn't that he was given up on as much as it was that Anaheim wanted him -- or at least was willing to accept him -- in the return for trading Pronger to the Flyers... You have to give up quality for quality... and in theory all good and fair trades should be equal. The Flyers wanted Pronger greatly and, as I see it, were willing to lose a young D-man they considered as having a nice upside for the leader and Number One D-man they coveted. I don't see it as a slap at Sbisa in the least... Now, if they had traded him straight up for clunker of a player......................

Right. In fact, they way they views Sbisa was the complete opposite than "giving up." He was inexplicably rushed to the NHL, and they were fortunate the Ducks bought in, because by the time they got to see him on the ice they didn't think the same thing.

Yes, it is clear that the Flyers overestimated his curve... but I believe they hadn't changed their expectations on his future. The Ducks apparently agreed on his potential.

Sbisa is still a very young player playing a position that takes more time to develop... Most players, no matter the position, do not shine when they jump from Juniors with eligibility remaining, IMO, so giving up on a 22 year old D-man with potential can prove a bad decision... But if the Ducks thought they'd be getting a World-beater they could plug in, it was to the Flyers advantage... that is, had Pronger not had that freak accident.

you wonder tho, if Sbisa goes back to junior is he still included in the trade.

EDIT: The Flyers had some injury issues in preseason/early season and were pretty much forced to throw Sbisa into the fire. He was ok at first but things caught up to him rather quickly.

I am saying that I am glad he is no longer on the team and was traded. Calm down, dude. I guess all but you are not allowed an opinion...

LOL... I was just funnin' with you... Opine away, by all means.

I was hoping my emoticon would show that... sorry.,, I was actually kinda lamenting on the LockOut and how we have been robbed of seeing what was actually going on with the team... I just found JvR an ironic choice in light of that; no insult intended, really.

To be honest, I understand what you mean and I don't see myself missing him either when the Flyers are allowed to continue... I got tired of waiting for him to become consistent and show those flashes of talent on a somewhat regular basis and I am looking forward to see what Luke can do.

Yes, he was disappointing last season - when he did play. I was actually hoping they would trade him (around the time they did)

I remember you making this comment, and me not getting it, but I'm watching Donetsk play Vityaz, and can say Danny Markov is very much still active In fact, he looks better on defensive duty than does our old pal Bartulis on the other team.

He also played injured. Not telling anyone about it, because he didn't want to get send down.

No doubt I want Mike back in a more limited role than the one he left, but definitely on the PP and in key situations when you need that goal.

Richards, Gagne, Lupul, Sharp and Seidenberg.

Sharp would be the best fit for this team. Great guy to pair with G and Hartnell on the top line. Seidenberg fits a need also.
