Hendo also said he was fine right before he pulled out of the Jones fight. Take anything a fighter says about his own injures with a grain of salt.

Dana White: Georges St-Pierre vs. Nick Diaz slated for March, but 'deal isn't done' yet

Quote:
Georges St-Pierre vs. Nick Diaz is all but set for the UFC's return to Montreal.

According to UFC president Dana White, the promotion has offered both GSP and Diaz a fight on March 16 in Montreal for the UFC welterweight title, however, the "deal isn't done" yet, White told MMAFighting.com Wednesday.

Diaz's manager Cesar Gracie confirmed the fight has been offered to Diaz, however, he said Diaz has yet to sign the contract. He was hoping to get that done either today or tomorrow.

St-Pierre's manager Rodolphe Beaulieu was not immediately available for a comment when reached by MMAFighting.com.

MacDonald vs Condit at UFC 158 in Montreal

Quote:
MacDonald (14-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) on Wednesday told MMAjunkie.com Radio he's been granted the rematch with Condit (28-6 MMA, 5-2 UFC), and UFC President Dana White confirmed the booking to MMAjunkie.com.

The fight is targeted for March 16 at Bell Centre in Montreal. Though the UFC has not officially announced that show, sources close to the event said it will be UFC 158, a pay-per-view. The placement of the MacDonald-Condit fight was not revealed, though it will be positioned on the main card.

What? A Montreal card with GSP headlining?!?! Shocking. I seriously want to know if Montreal fans are sick of always seeing GSP or if they love him so much that they don't mind it always being him in the main event. Anyways, I'm happy Diaz is getting his shot. He'll probably lose because he doesn't have the right style to beat GSP but whatever. Rory/Condit is a great fight also. Hopefully they round that card out nicely.

You mean Condit isn't scared of MacDonald?

MacDonald had very little experience the first time they fought and he just couldn't close it out after easily winning the first two rounds. This time he'll get it done.

No, just like Condit did the first time they fought. Condit's a top of the division fighter. Rory hasn't beaten anyone in the top 10 yet.

Good fights. Just wish they would have GSP fight somewhere other than Montreal.

Will GSP/Nick look any different from Benson/Nate?

Not too much different. Probably more time spent on the ground and more middle fingers and taunting. The result will be the same though.

Nick's a different fighter than Nate. Similar skill sets, but different.

GSP will do what he always does though. Jab-Jab-Jab-Takedown-GNP

Hell no! Lucian Bute and Jean Pascal mostly fight in Montreal too, we LOVE our locals. Fighting sports is huge in the province of Quebec. What we are really tired though is the UFC treating fans of Montreal like sheep. They give cards ala boxing where it's one great main-event and a crappy undercard in terms of names. The last 3 cards in Montreal were terrible. You pay 50$ to see big fights, you pay 500$ to see big names, end of story...

Let him..

I'm really getting tired of these NCAA wrestlers (Fitch, Wideman, etc.) begging for title shots after 2,3 wins all the time. Hendricks should figure out that there's not 4 titles per deivision in the UFC and should rack up the wins instead of acting like a 12 year old girl in her periods. GSP brought hundread's of millions in revenues over the last 10 years for his bosses, he has the right to call for an opponent he doesn't like, one he was originaly sceduled to fight in the 1st place.

He should be excited about headlining against Wanderlei, probably a pretty nice payday for 2-3 minutes of work.

In addition to Wanderlei/Stann, the UFC also announced/confirmed these fights for that card:

Mark Hunt vs Stefan Struve
Diego Sanchez vs Takanori Gomi
Dong Hyun Kim vs Siyar Bahadurzada
Riki Fukuda vs Brad Tavares
Cristiano Marcello vs Kazuki Tokudome
Takeya Mizugaki vs Bryan Caraway
Alex Caceres vs Kyung Ho Kang

Weidman has won 9 fights in a row, not 2-3.

I think Nick will be on his back the entire time, so in that sense, yes. GSP will take him down at will.

I don't like this fight at all. As a Hunt fan, the only way this ends well is if he catches Struve in the first minute or two. And don't get me wrong, that's certainly possible, but I would've preferred to see him fight someone who wasn't phenomenal at subs. Granted the only guys ranked higher aside from JDS are either great wrestlers or great sub guys, so I guess a bad matchup was inevitable (Bigfoot probably would've been best in terms of climbing the ranks against a guy who would likely stand with him). I know it wouldn't have been the most fair thing to do, but I would've loved to see Hunt-JDS.

Macdonald is going to beat him like a dirty rug.

It will be glorious.

I guess Ellenberger will have to make do.

Perhaps a rematch with Mike Pyle?
