It's not that it's unexpected, it's just lazy. Play up the young prospect beating a fading legend as expected, fine, but it's not necessary to act as if it's a changing of the guard at 170 or anything. Rory comes off as a tool anyway so market him as a villain.

I feel the same about Diaz as I feel about Penn. Outside the ring they're tools, but inside the ring they're warriors that you have to admire. Both of them got dominated tonight, but I still like them as fighters and I still think they're both tools.

I didn't see the rest of the card, but I tuned in in time to see the last 3 fights. McDonald, Gustafsson, and Henderson all looked great.

I was disappointed that Rory basically mailed in the 3rd round, when Penn was so badly beaten that he could have gone for a finish he played it safe. As for the showboating... well, if Rory had gone out and shown up a gentleman by doing the Ali Shuffle, I'd have been offended. But against Penn? Penn invites it. If Penn weren't such a dick, I'd be disappointed with Rory for doing classless antics in the ring. But since it was Penn... I have a hard time feeling too bad about it.

Gustafsson looked outstanding... but those tactics just won't work against Jones. I don't think Gustafsson can throw Jones down the way he did to Rua, and those knees to the faces were more or less a freebie that came from being 5 inches taller.

I love Nate Diaz as a fighter, and I also think he's a complete jackass. Henderson looked great tonight, I don't think there's much else to say about it. He completely neutralized Nate's boxing, and there were a few exciting scrambles on the ground but Benson was never in serious danger from Nate's submissions. Nate is terrific at what he does, but what he does just isn't a serious threat to Ben Henderson.

The thing that bugged me the most about Rory, is him imitating Ali. Only Silva and GSP can do that.

Wait till you're a dominating champion before you start to taunt legends.

I hope Carlos devastates this kid.

I agree. MacDonald, like GSP is a big Welterweight. Not quite as thick as GSP, but very big. After rehydrating after the weigh ins yesterday, Rory probably was in the cage at 185-190 lbs. BJ was at 168. So, looking at a 3 inch plus 20 lb weight advantage.

Just physically dominated BJ. Would like to have seen Rory a bit more aggressive in finishing BJ in round 2.

Big 3 fights went pretty much as I expected.

Rory physically dominated BJ. Just too big.

Gustofsson beat a game Shogun. Shogun's cardio always seems to be hit/miss since joining the UFC. Kind of like BJ Penn. Never know if he is going to run out of gas sometime in round 2.

Henderson, I expected him to beat Diaz. He's just more solidly built than Diaz. At 155 lbs, being 5'9 and built like a truck is the ideal build. Rory is kind of like that too for the 170 lb division. 6'0 tall and solidly built, ala GSP at 5'11. Diaz is so tall and lanky that he doesn't appear to have much power in his punches. Just got beat to death with those kicks and take downs.

Sucks to see Shogun & BJ lose like that. Can't bring myself to like Benson.

I like Bendo but I prefer Nate. I also prefer Cerrone, so once he gets through Pettis I'll be on the other side of the fight again.

Great night of fights! My voice is hoarse from cheering for Rory among the very much pro-BJ crowd. Lots and lots of ******** Penn fans tonight at the arena.

Penn is one of the biggest dbags in the sport and has **** talked opponents for years. Not to mention his incessant whining about "greasing" when he quit on the stool.

A little bit of pay back administered tonight. Beat Penn at his own standup game.

I like Penn as a fighter. He won me over because he backed up his **** talk by beating his opponents in the cage.

Rory did the same tonight.

Lol at the haters.

I bet money that Condit will not agree to a fight with Rory either.

You mean the same guy who took a fight against GSP on short notice is afraid of fighting Rory MacDonald? Come on.

Well since Pettis beat Benson the first time in the WEC it only makes sense to do that fight again in the UFC should Pettis beat Ceronne.
