Why do people say the NBA is full of thugs when the NFL is just as bad?

When Ray Lewis said that crime will rise if NFL games are missed due to a lockout, I laughed at first before realizing that he was right. Can you imagine some of those players without the structured schedule of the NFL? Now, I'm pretty sure Ray was talking about fans, especially those from inner-city neighborhoods. But honestly, isn't it more accurate when it comes to some of these players?

Not to mention that, despite making millions of dollars, half of these guys are broke. You'll have players committing crimes out of neccessity when that first six-figure paycheque doesn't arrive in September.

That's actually why I don't think the lockout will drag on too long. The players will fold, becuase by September any amount of money is going to start sounding good. Half those guys simply can't afford a missed season (ridiculous as that sounds).

Suggs, Belcher, Josh Brent

If this was the NBA, there would be a national outrage.

I'm also an NFL fan. I know the NHL has problems.

Been a year. Have you found any actual statistics yet, or still going off what one of your teacher's told you?

NFL arrests in 2012, some of the charges were later dropped.

53 man rosters, 32 teams = 1696 players.

Just like in any walk of life you'll have your bad apples. NFL has problems it needs to fix, but don't lump in the good guys in this league with the bad.

Personally, I have always thought the NFL was worse than the NBA, just by a bit. It has more players to start, so that leads to more of these poor choices. But why is Baseball and Hockey significantly lower than these two other sports when it comes to these things? Not saying those sports are perfect, but compared to the NBA and especially the NFL it's like Full House for crying out loud.

My thought is this, in the NHL there are a lot of players from small town Canada. Good families, good communities, etc. You're going to run into far less problems that way. There are NFL players that are from rotten communities. They got a scholarship not based on their brains. They are basically caged animals who still have a street mentality in them despite being millionaires. If anyone thinks that's a good combination then you haven't been paying attention the last 30 years.

Anyway, we can take this to the arrest thread. No need for this thread to be bumped
