Models his game after Kovalev. That's why he wears #27.

A lot of people like to compare prospects to Datsyuk, but style wise i think Drouin plays more like him then other prospects, that is offensively of course, defensively Drouin would need to put it in a lot of work to get where Datsyuk is.

Ah that makes sense.

Drouin with 2 goals and an assist late in the third. The Moose tied the game just a moment ago.

Drouin with the hat trick now (3+1) with less than a minute to play. Looks like the moose are going to run with this game.

They could one of the most spectacular duo in the league. But it look like we'll need another top 5 to get him. Which will probably not happen. But thinking of a talented french canadian like Drouin in Montreal makes me hard like a Ninja Gaiden game.

That's what impresses me most about Drouin. It seems like whenever the game is on the line: he thrives.

He would look even better with Tavares and Strome

Drouin to JT, to Strome, and it's in the back of the net.... Yeah that would be pretty friggin lethal lol.

Both (MacKinnon) have this bag of tricks they break out in the big games... They want and thrive in pressure situations from what I've seen in their careers.

I never see the games when Drouin goes off lol he's underwhelmed me every time I've seen him live He always has moves but it seemed like he was doing them at such a slow speed that it wouldn't translate to the pro game. Granted last time I saw him was around flu bug time so maybe he wasn't near 100%

One of these days I'll get to see it

Let`s hope he doesn`t model his overall attitude and committment to the NHL game like Kovalev, nothing like an uber skilled guy playing only when he feels like it.

Been watching Drouin up close and personal since his arrival last year, solid work ethic, still needs a ton of work in two of the 3 zones, of course, he won`t be drafted to have him turn into Bob Gainey

I think he needs to follow Girouxs path to the NHL. Stay down to work on other areas.

Agreed, it will be key for him to do so or any organization, so he doesn't get hindered. Another player who had a similar path but didn't end up well even a torrid start would be Derrick Brassard, insane skill but was put into the bigs too early IMO and got him bad.

It would be awesome for some team to pull a Burke style trade and get both Mac and Drouin at the draft. They would be awesome together in the NHL.

Those 2 would do damage. They know where the other is at all times.

Here's my one little concern about this kid; he's too good for the QMJHL but might bot be ready for the NHL. So where does he play next season? Three points a game in the QMJHL doesn't do him, or anybody else any good. 4th liner and PP specialist on an NHL team that has to shelter his minutes because he's very small, and his defensive game needs a ton of work? That doesn't seem like a fantastic fit, either. When I've watched this kid he's shown that there is absolutely no doubt about his amazing talent and incredible upside. That said, he cherry picks like crazy, avoids corners like the plague and is a pure spectator in his own zone. You aren't going to find too many NHL head coaches who are going to deal with that. He's got some work to do in refining his overall game, but I'm not so sure that either the NHL or the QMJHL is the place to do it.

I'm probably just reading too much into the few games I've seen.

Playing in Halifax next season without MacKinnon would be a good test for him, I would think.

My personal opinion is that he plays in the Q for another year and then hones his skills in the AHL before he hits the NHL.

Send him back to Halifax, move him to centre, which ups his defensive responsibility and see how he does. Would be a mistake to leave him in the NHL next year honestly.

Your overall point is a good one. But the bolded above are ridiculous exaggerations. Is he a physical force, future Selke nominee? No. But he's not a liability either. The hyperbole thrown around this place is nuts sometimes.

You might be thinking a little too far ahead, but you do make a valid point. Too bad he couldn't get traded to the whl or ohl.

Playing in the Q won't help his offensive game but he can try to get bigger and work on other areas of his game.
