With Loktionov and Campbell coming back, I'd like the line-up to look like this.

King - Loktionov - Kozun

Pearson - Vey - Toffoli

Cliche - Weal - Nolan

Clune - Andreoff - Czarnik

Hickey - Voynov

Bodnarchuk - Deslauriers

Rodney - Campbell (sit Muzzin a game or two, or ten.)

solid with the exception of Rodney over Muzz, he needs to work his way through his ruff spot. Rodney is a hit or huge miss kind of player who is a stopgap, let him play when needed.

I like the signing of Rodney. He's got solid numbers, experience, former captain. And a much needed right hand shot on defense!

Should be interesting to see where Rodney goes in the line-up with Campbell coming back as well.

Unless of course this report out of Boston is true that the lock-out could end tomorrow or wednesday!

In all seriousness though when the lock out does end. It could cause a big shake-up on defense in Manchester. Obviously Voynov is gonna be re-called to LA, but from my understanding is Hickey, Campbell, and Muzzin are all under AHL lock-out contracts that would be invalid when the lock-out ends. Which means they would have to clear waivers in order to keep playing for Manchester. Which is risky move for all 3 as they could all be claimed. Also Lombardi is gonna have to make a decision on who will be 7th defenseman in LA. Keep going with Drewiske or does he move in one of those guy in there? Does he risk sending them down? Does he try to trade some of them?

Cliche, Clune and King are also under these kind of contracts At least as far I know... King I know for sure, but he's staying put in LA.

The Monarchs will get a little help in Net also ... they just signed Maninno

Monarchs Sign Mannino

The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings, have signed goaltender Peter Mannino to a one-year American Hockey League contract and have released defenseman Vincent LoVerde from his professional tryout agreement, announced Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough on Tuesday.

Mannino, 28, began the season with the Monarchs on a professional tryout agreement. In five games with Manchester this season, Mannino has 3-1-0 record to go along with a 1.87 goals-against-average and a .926 save percentage. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound native of Farmington Hills, Michigan is a veteran of 144 American Hockey League games and six National Hockey League games. Since turning pro in 2008 with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, Mannino has compiled a 74-46-8 record in the AHL to go along with a 2.84 goals-against-average and a .904 save percentage. In his six NHL appearances, Mannino has totaled a 1-1-0 record and has posted a 3.98 goals-against-average and a .882 save percentage with the New York Islanders, Atlanta Thrashers and Winnipeg Jets. Last season, Mannino suited up for the St. John’s IceCaps (AHL), the Portland Pirates (AHL), Chicago Express (ECHL) and the Jets. In 25 AHL games for the IceCaps and Pirates last season, Mannino tallied a record of 12-11-1 while posting a 3.17 goals-against-average and a .901 save percentage. The netminder appeared in one game for the Jets during the 2011-12 season making saves on all four shots he faced in 19:51 minutes. Prior to becoming a pro, Mannino played four seasons (2004-08) in the NCAA’s Western Collegiate Hockey Association for the University of Denver Pioneers collecting an overall record of 61-32-5 and setting the Pioneers’ all-time shutout mark at 15. Mannino also ranks second all-time in saves percentage (.917), and third overall in wins (63) and goals-against-average (2.35) for the Pioneers.

At this point, I'd rather see Mannino in net than Jones.

Monarchs continue to struggle defensively. Lost today 3-2 to the Bruins. Defensive break downs, breakaway goals, penalties, same old story.

Bryan Rodney however did have a great debut with 2 goals in his first game, but neither him or Campbell helped the d.

Offense however continues to be good. But love to see them get that big late goal to tie games up. They tend to look fantastic early in the games but then fade as the game goes on, and as of late when the lead slips away.

Monarchs are young team though, and I suppose this is somewhat expected. After all the AHL is a developmental league, and the Monarchs are always young team by design (of Dean Lombardi and Ron Hextall). I guess just haven't been as focused on Manchester in the past as I am this season due to the lockout.

Monarchs win 9-2.

Kozun and Loktionov each had three points, and Cliche was the only Monarchs forward not to register a point.

Muzzin was a +5, and Hickey was the only Monarchs player to finish even (or worse).

edit: What may be even more impressive is that all of the Monarchs' nine goals were scored at even strength.

3 total penalties called in the game. pretty wierd consitering the score. figured there would be some shenanigans. It was just good to get a win. Even at 5-1 after 2 I am sure some were thinking well I dont dont know if the lead is safe given the defensive lapses and the 3rd period struggles this year.
hopefully they can build off the win.

Wow, great plays by Jordan Nolan on the first and third goals. Showed some skill on the first one and he did a great job using his body to shield the puck on the third one.

Pretty pass by Pearson on the eighth goal, too.

Needless to say an amazing game tonight! I was lucky enough to choose tonight be the night i made a weekend trip to Manchester. The 9 goals was a club record for most goals in a game! Nearly perfect game of course the O was fantasic but the D was solid, very few mistakes and Mannino was great in net.

Goal scorers tonight where Kozun (2) Vey (2) Nolan, Bodnarchuk, Clune, Loktionov, & Voynov

Man Jordan Nolan can flat out dominate at times. He looked like a Keith Primeau out there, using his size to fight off defenders. And the hands on Pearson to make those plays, me like!

Pearson's pass on Vey's first goal was unreal. That's a hard play to pull off. Skating behind the net but dishing off to the side you came from isn't as easy as it looks.

I've always said that Nolan has a lot of untapped offensive upside. Hopefully Sutter makes an attempt to develop it.

I don't want to see his goal scoring potential ignored like Murray did with Simmonds.

Pearson has been pretty impressive for a rookie in the AHL. He started off slow but I think he's been going at a point-per-game pace for the last ten games or so. He now has 12 points in 22 games.

He seems to be a pass-first guy, but he isn't afraid to get into the dirty areas and get his goals that way. I don't see him as a top-six forward in the future for us, but quite possibly a solid third line LW.

Pearson reminds me of Justin Williams.... A lot J-Dub in how he plays.

Monarchs lose 3-2.

Third periods are proving to be a giant obstacle for the young guys.

More of the same today. More blown 3rd period leads...

Mannino on the other hand has been looking great! Stole the start from Jones today
