Ilya Bryzgalov's Next Contract (if amnestied)

Hypothetically, let's say the new CBA allows for an amnesty buyout and Philly uses it on Bryz. What would your team, particularly if they have goalie issues, offer a UFA Bryz? I'm curious to see how high the number would get.

Also, who would have interest? Just some guesses: TOR, NYI, EDM, CLB, NJD (if Brodeur retires), CHI, TB.

Islanders wouldn't be interested. They'd rather just re-sign Nabokov or start Poulin/Nilsson.

I think he'd go back/stay in to Russia. At least for the year.

Despite his poor play in the KHL this year, I think there's a reasonable chance he would make as much money by staying in Russia as he would from a new NHL contract. Especially considering the tax he would have to pay in Russia (13%) is 1/3 the tax he currently has to pay in Philadelphia (38%).

I doubt Philly uses it. You don't sign a player to that kind of money and give up on him after a single year. You can attribute his lack of success due to playing in a new system, new city with new teammates. I think Philly would keep him. Whether that is the right or wrong choice is yet to be determined and we may never know the answer.

Tampa wouldn'y be interested. Lindback, Garon, and have Helenius and Tokarski in the AHL.

KHL bound, and I would put money on it.

I think KHL is the most likely option, but you have to think Burke would be interested

2 way deal...

Never been a fan. My team already has too many goalies. So yeah very little.

Only way he comes to NJ is on a stopgap deal. So it would be like a two year deal at 5 million a piece.

Homgren should get fired if he buys out Bryz.

800 000 dollars to play on the ahl team unless the gm is drunk. he was good on pheonix .. i dotn get to see a lot of pheonix games but when i do its a defencive nightmare.... thats a really solid defensive hockey club... they shoulda traded him when he was under contract... they could of stole something from someone for him....

This board is ridiculous. Bryz was elite for a 4-year stretch, then had one year with a 0.909 SV% behind a pretty awful defense and suddenly he'll have a hard time finding work?

Wrong. That wasn't Holmgren's call, it was Snider's.

Pronger has a 35+ contract with 5 years left paying him 19.25 million dollars and a 4.9 cap hit. Im pretty sure if Philly had one buy out they would use it on Pronger

Difference is Pronger is on the LTIR, so doesn't count against the cap.

WRONG

Richards played 3 seasons after we signed him to his long-term deal.

Carter (and Richards) had off-ice issues. Did you want us to just hold on him/them and allow the locker room to be divided?

JVR you can maybe make a case for, but we had a void to fill on the blueline and because he wasnt putting it all together in Philly, he became expendable

Well, Philly can still exceed the cap by Pronger's salary.
