Team 1040, especially since Gillis got hired I feel has gotten so bland. No one is allowed to say anything bad about the players and management. It's boring to listen to when all they do is suck up to the Canucks.
That's a testament to Gillis.
I agree with the earlier poster about Botchford. I predict over the next 30 years he will devolve into the second coming of Dave Pratt and become the new Rush Limbaugh Vancouver. He has done some slimy reporting and thinks he's the funniest person in the world.
I don't mind Shorthouse and Garrett but I wouldn't exactly give them any kind of award for professionalism. It's basically like watching two stoners call a game, cracking dumb jokes every 30 seconds and not even pretending to be impartial. Though Shorthouse can be moderate compared to Garret.
Worst-Neil Macrae (bitter and negative)
Tony Gallagher-same
Dan Russell-same
David Pratt-same
Garry Valk-has a point, but 60 minutes isn't enough for him to make it.
Jeff Patterson-worst voice/cadence/phrasing EVER
Joey Kenward-Junior B volunteer Dad calibre play by play
The Moj-Sounds like a dumb jock
Don Taylor (used to be a "best", but his shtick exceeded it's "best before" date at least half a decade ago)
Best-Jim Robson
John Shorthouse
Jim Hughson
They just call the games. And do it well.
Best-Jim Robson
John Shorthouse
Jim Hughson
^All very bland personalities with no edge what so ever. I don't stay in the car to hear an interview with any of them
But I will go out of my way to hear Patterson, Tony G or Pratt. Those guys all have unique and witty personalities. They stir it up.

I agree with all of this.
Best: Jim Hughson
Worst: Jason Botchford, Tony Gallagher, and Ryan Walters
Pratt is not even worth mentioning or recognising as anything.
Pratt is the worst. Uneducated about sports and lazy as hell when it comes to doing any kind of research. What. A. Tool.
Ferraro is the best. He knows the game, is wiling to stick his neck out and does his homework. I'll take guys that played in the game and/or know the game over these pencil necked "media personalities" any day of the week.

Depends on the player but more times then not I would too. Don't care much for Aaron Ward but think Ferraro is good as well. Love the knocks on Phaneuf and Martin he made when he didn't know the tape was rolling during a break in the action.
Not a fan of Garrett. The colour commentators should either be flat out homers like Tommy Heinsohn (because it's funny) or provide thoughtful analysis.

And you don't think Garrett is a flat out homer? He practically cheerleads the team every game.
Best: Rick Ball, both football and hockey. He's dramatic, informative and funny no matter who he's working with. He sounded fantastic doing Jets games for HNIC last year. Personally I prefer him to Shorty on the radio. That's not to say Shorty isn't good, just that Baller is better.
I like the TEAM's Whitecaps broadcasts
Worst: BHack and Himbo. Barry MacDonald sounds like a decent, but the reek of nostalgia is just too strong. Taylor is just dumb. He should never speak without a teleprompter displaying words written by someone else.
I really wish the TEAM 1040 would overcome the Sportpage nostalgia and start breaking in some new talent. Some of the fringe guys on that station are better than the guys who have regular shows. Martinego and Mcletechie I enjoy.
I agree with the person who thought Patterson is good at play by play. He should lose that voice when he's hosting, but it works for a game call.
This is what I think of when I think of Dan Russell. He has a good point - but then he goes off the deep end. Insulting Malholtra for not telling them the details of a medical condition that was more far-reaching than the realm of the game of hockey.
