If I'm reading the lineups at NLA's website correctly, hasn't Hofmann played only two games with Thornton?
No, he is Not playing with JT and Nash. He is in a swiss line: he played with von arx. Now i think is playing with sciaroni, a good Young player but not a sniper. Don't know the other guy by now.
Carrick has done well to increase his offensive production thus far this year, and is seeing lots of time on the powerplay. Offensively, he was pretty good today. He did have one turnover at the point which lead to an odd man rush, but it was more the fault of Brett Foy for a bad pass which put Carrick in an awkward position. He gained an assist on the powerplay, working a give and go up top with Kris Kontos. He's playing 5 on 5 with Alex Cord, which is giving him lots of opportunities to work on his puck rushing skills. Defensively, I felt like he was one of the few Steelheads defenders to get exposed today. There were a few times where he was beaten off the rush and wasn't able to stay with a forward going to the net. When the play slowed down, he was good and was able to win his battles in the corners and was a physical presence, but those defensive lapses off the rush were things that plagued him last year too. He'll need to continue to work on that.
Hofmann is an amazing player, saw him quite a few times in Davos this year. http://www.eliteprospects.com/league...tion=&sort=u24
This is the ranking of the league's under-24 players. He isn't even 20yo btw, but has Tavares' goal ratio.
I like the interview.
Seems like every decision he's made has been to improve his development...not $ related.
I'm not so sure I like is feelings that he expected to be in the NHL after 3 years, but I guess self-confidence can be a good thing too.
I expect him to come back over and play at least 1 season in the NHL.
Murphy looked really good last night vs. Windsor (it was on NHL Network), his skating looked fluid and his creativeness on the PP was fun to watch. He should have won it for Kitchener in OT but hit the post.
I saw Trevor Carrick play against London this past Sunday. He looked very poised and calm in the defensive zone. Broke up quite a few plays but he had a few gaffes as well. Let his man get behind him and lost him then the guy got sprung on a breakaway. He was pretty good at getting his shot through on the pp and almost had a goal in the first. He scored in the shootout as well but the steelheads ended up losing. Crazy shootout, went something like 19 or 20 rounds. For 12 straight rounds no one from either team scored.
So how many of our prospects have a chance at playing in the World Juniors? I know Murphy was invited and Di Giuseppe wasn't, but that's about all I know.
* - Ellis is on contract with Charlotte, not Hurricanes property and by no means a prospect.
pre-WJC update. Carrick seems to be having a huge season as does Tlusty right now. Rask has been playing very well in the Dub of late.
Will be interesting to see if the Canes bring back Dadonov given how productive he's been in the KHL. Could provide some much needed scoring depth, but I doubt he'll come back if he's offered a two-way contract.
Has anyone seen much of Michal Jordan on the Checkers? How has looked so far? Any idea if he'll make the NHL with the depth of the prospects the Canes have?

He's the least talked about good prospect for the Canes. His ceiling is a 6th or 7th NHL dman, but we never even give him a thought.

Only live action Ive seen of him was yesterday. No glaring weaknesses in my view. Solid defender. Granted it was only one game, I think he would be an okay depth player.
I'm not a Cane's fan but I LOVE Murphy, I find it hilarious he gets hated for things that the all the other 6 Dmen did at the WJC and didn't get called out for.
People seem to base Murphy off the smallest things, not the fact that he's an amazingly talented defensemen with NHL upside.
Super duper prospect Frankie Corrado was traded to the Kitchener Rangers. So if Murphy doesn't make the Canes and goes back and tears it up. We now know why.
