On one hand, KC is stupid to trade Myers+ for 2 years of Shields and a back of the rotation starter.

On the other hand, at least they're trying not to be a doormat anymore.

it's like trying to get the bully to leave you alone so you start kicking your own ass to save him the time.

Montgomery is a former top prospect but he's fallen off a cliff.

Oddorizzi is a good pitcher. Middle of the rotation upside and close to major league ready.

LOL at the Royals. Saw the Myers plus and didn't think they would add that much.

Montgomery scouting report from Aug 2011. Sickels had him as a B/B+ guy and he gives out grades very conservatively. Royals dealt their #1,#3, and #4 prospects from last winter. Just awful.

To be fair, Montgomery is a train wreck at this point.

Had an awful 2012 though, horrid numbers. But he's a lefty and has a good arm, so there's that.

To turn a phrase from Billy Beane's award winning autobiography "Moneyball", the Rays have pulled off a ****ing A Trade.

Was Montgomery the guy that needed Tommy John or is that Danny Duffy? I get KC's lefties confused.

#Rays STILL have seven starters to choose from: Price, Hellickson, Moore, Niemann, Odorizzi, Cobb, Archer.

Just a brilliant franchise.

Duffy, Chris Dwyer and John Lamb are KC young lefties who had TJS. Montgomery hadn't.

I keep telling myself the Dodgers are probably only one disappointing Colletti season from offering Andrew Friedman eleventy billion dollars to get him out of the AL East.

Keep in mind though the Rays have one the best pitching coaches in the MLB. He's had success with other underachieving guys in the past and Montgomery isn't some jobber, but actually talented.

On the trade itself:

Will Myers is going to be a stud. He'll be there in the middle of the rotation with Longo for the next decade for that team. To trade plus Odorizzi and Montgomery for 2 years of Shields makes no sense.

Moore is an idiot. Just an awful trade. He's up there with the idiot who runs the Dodgers.

Odorizzi too? LOL. Should have just thrown Starling in there for fun as well. What a train wreck the Royals are.
