Official needs to learn how to stand up. lol.

I guess that's how you guarantee yourself a spot on the NHL team.

That video annoyed me. The other player said something to Huberdeau and he tried to go after him. The ref held on as Huberdeau tried to get away but fell and pulled Huberdeau down with him. The commentator said " he literally wrestled the ref to the ground".

Pretty impressed at how often and how hard he mixes things up. I think Florida's got a great prospect

I guess that's why he is a ref and not a hockey player.

The smug smile while skating off the ice will only hurt his case (1:13)... I'm predicting a hefty suspension, and rightfully so.

Yup. I think he gets the book thrown at him. It will be interesting to see what happens. It probably depends in large part how hurt the linesman is and what his version of the events are.

If he feels Huberdeau pushed him and caused him to blow out a knee, then I cant see how the league just blows it off. They would be risking a ref mutiny, and they wouldnt do that. If the linesman says he fell or it was an accident or whatever, then likely not much if anything happens.

But looking at how the linesman dragged himself into the penalty box, how Huberdeau went over to the refs after to plead his case, and their reaction to it, I would say he is gone for twenty games or something like that.

The "Abuse of Official" call was later retracted ... Is this really something people aren't used to seeing? A player trying to get away from an official because someone is still jawing at them lol ... It happens more often then some think I guess

It'll be a slap on the wrist if anything. He clearly did nothing malicious towards the official. If the guy is hurt it'll be a token 2-3 games. Similar plays happen once every couple games. It's just unfortunate the linesman was hurt.

Yeah, it isn't as though Huberdeau is thought of as a brute or even strong, he didn't 'shove' the ref, he tried to get at the other in player, which in turn caused the ref to lose balance.

If that's 20 games just because the refs was unfortunately injured that's a joke, watch every bruhaha in hockey, one guy tries to fight through being held back by an official EVERYTIME.

His injury shouldn't necessarily reflect on Huberdeau. I think it's obvious from the video that he lost his footing while holding onto Huberdeau and then fell awkwardly.

So much for it being rescinded. Looks like he got the minimum.

Yes not sure why the local paper said it was later retracted

So he's essentially not suspended at all, since the games he'll miss at the WJC will count towards the games he's suspended for.

The usual practice of the League is to suspend the player for the 4 next team games, regardless of injury or participation in games played outside the QMJHL such as in the National Hockey League or through international competition.

You throw a ref down to fight a guy who pounds you ?

What a smart guy. Did he win any of his other fights ?

Doesnt that mean he will serve the four game suspension when he gets back?

That's not how I read it.

I read it as he'll be suspended for the Sea Dogs next four games even though he wasn't going to participate in them anyways.
