Duchenes contract hinting he knows lockout is coming to a close and he wants a couple weeks extra to get in game shape?

How would he know that though? I'm sure that contract can be extended as well. Perhaps he just has hopes.

All these guys have NHL out-clauses in their contracts so that they can leave whenever the NHL season starts. Locked-out NHLers sign short contracts to keep their European options open in case they want to go somewhere else. If Duchene doesn't like it in Ambri he can just move on to another club after 3 weeks. There's no need to commit to one team until the European transfer deadline in mid-February(?).

Frölunda is probably just trying to free some money to sign Erik Karlsson or maybe Henrik Lundqvist. Karlsson wants to play for Frölunda and he has an option to leave Jokerit at the end of every month.

I don't think so. Several NHL players have signed similiar contracts, limited to a couple of weeks, since the lockout began, and it has never been an indication of anything.

I'm pretty sure that Matt Duchene doesn't know **** about how this lockout is working out.

Just a side note regarding the rumours about Zbynek Michalek going to medvescak Zagreb - I was given an opportunity to talk with Milan Michalek today and he laughed at this saying there wasn't even one percent of truth in it. "Not at all"

Cammalleri back home already. His wife decided she and the kids would not come to the Spengler Cup, and asked him to come home.

Bergeron, who will play the Spengler Cup with Team Canada, will leave Switzerland and his lock-out team Lugano after that, and go back home. In the club statement, they said Bergeron is confident that the NHL will resume soon and that he wants to get ready for it. A return in Lugano remains a possibility if the NHL season is canceled.

Both, Blake Wheeler and Paul Stastny, extended their contracts with Red Bull Munich. They are going to be with the team until the end of the lockout. Stastny went back to the USA in order to spend Christmas with his girlfriend and will be back with the team by the 4th of January.

Their initial contracts expired on December 23rd.
