Keep in mind, he's already 30.
still they have to keep him. i still think he could even get better in the next few years.

Or he could continue his torrid love affair with the homerun and get worse.

I want nothing to do with Cano and 10 yr contract. Way too much commitment for any 30 yr old player. He is easily the best 2nd baseman in the world, but A-Rod was easily the best player in the world when he signed his extension.

well if they dont plan on making any big signings in the near future then they better hope that they have some good prospects coming up or else their going to be going downhill for the next few years. the orioles, jays, red sox, and rays are all going to be pretty tough. they all seem to have better outlook for the future than the yankees do to be honest.

Zcah Greinke got $147 million over 6 years from the Dodgers.

Zach Greinke. Let that sink in.

I wonder if all the people who have complained about the Yankee payroll over the years will be similarly outraged by what the Dodgers are doing.

Greinke is a great pitcher and his peripherals are on par with the most elite pitchers in the league. The deal isn't really that nuts.

...However, the fact the Dodgers have a ****ing 220 million dollar payroll WITH MORE TO SPEND is absolutely ridiculous.

He's way too inconsistent to command that kind of money, though. It's madness.

After seeing the Dodgers spend all this money I really wanna see them fall flat on their face. Now I know how non-Yankee fans feel .

The difference is that when the Yankees spend, they make the ****ing playoffs.

Look at what Boston did two years ago and again this year. The Angels recently. The Dodgers. The Mets.

Who cares how much money you spend when you give your fans a winning product. People who complain about payroll just use it as an excuse as to why their team sucks hot turds through a straw.

Feels good not to have the highest payroll anymore.

btw vomit with the Youkilis signing. Never liked him. Rather had seen Adams at 3rd.

#Yankees know they are signing Ichiro, decision is 1 yr, 1 yr with vesting option or 2-yr deal.

Ichiro is 394 Hs from 3,000 and #Yankees are wondeirng if 2-yr deal would create marketing $$, especially in Japanese mkt
Barf.

Of all the players they wouldn't give multi-year contracts to, to then give one to Ichiro?

He's 394 hits away from 2,000. Better make it a 3 year deal then....

I would be okay with Ichiro for (2) years. Guy is in phenomenal shape and has never hit for power. Guys who hit for average are better as they get older (see Jeter over ARod).

TRADE GRANDERSON!

I really hope the Mets trade Dickey. I love him and wish he could retire a Met, but the organization needs players that are going to help them in two years. If they could get D'Arnaud, Jackie Bradley or Olt (plus another good prospect), the future would look even brighter.

Ichiro's average is largely dependent on his speed, however. He may be in great shape, but he's slowing down and will continue to slow down. And he doesn't walk to offset that.

I think our argument re: Granderson has run its course.

To further my point, in the past 5 seasons, 20.5% of Ichiro's hits have been infield hits.
