We need guys that can work a count. Too many free swingers on the Phils. I don't get the outrage, so Young plays a couple seasons here. Rangers are paying a lot of the salary and we traded Lindblom for Christ's sake.

Phillies Acquire Michael Young
By Mike Axisa [December 8 at 12:49pm CST]
The Phillies have acquired Michael Young from the Rangers according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today (Twitter links). Young will receive $1.2MM in benefits in exchange for waiving his no-trade clause, but Nightengale says he told the Phillies he did not want an extension (Twitter links). The $1.2MM accounts for the state tax difference.

He will only be here for a year, then Cody Asche will probably take over in 2014. The Phillies 3b situation was terrible last year. Young can be no worse than that.

Guys who hit for average, but may not hit a lot of home runs are consitered overrated.
I am not hung up on Granderson. What have I brought him a couple of times? LOL.

Lets see if that idiot from Texas gives him an MVP vote when he isn't on the team that he covers.

I fully expect Young to bounce back at the plate. With that said, if I'm a Phillies fan, I'd be worried about him playing 3rd everyday. His range, speed and arm strength is not what it once was.

Young and Howard. Just horrible. Thankfully for Phillies fans, they have all the awesome pitchers.

The Phillies just got a stopgap on the cheap. Jesus Christ you guys are acting like they traded Utley to get him, then locked him up for 10/40

Not a bad pickup at all for the Phillies considering the garbage available and he's only there for a year so you'll probably get a decent effort from him.

Career .304 BA / 795 OPS at Citizens in 25 at bats. Not great but not bad either.

I think he has a decent year.

He might be *ok* at the plate but even that is a risk. However, he WILL be terribad in the field. He just shouldn't be in the NL. He's basically a bench/DH at this point. Who cares if he's cheap and they didn't give up much if he's awful? I can see that going over well.

"Granted, Young is having a bad season, but it's not like we're paying him a lot of money!"
