A hard sell to both sides. Oilers fans will want to see Yakupov and Nugent-Hopkins together and Leafs will want to hang on to their young star. Both sides will have trouble with value. You would have to accept that typically top end scorers are worth more, and that Gardiner is still a ready to hit another level.
Leafs lose a bit of value taking the Khabibulin dump and a guy who seems to have peaked in Teubert....but I guess he is a "Burke player" and a bottom pairing guy. Really though, I think Yakupov would electrify that city and that is really the basis of the trade.
On the Edmonton side, Gardiner gets to play with Schultz and they get a couple of young depth guys in Reimer and Percy. I like Reimer's Cujo-esque play going to the Oilers. If you don't get some solid years from from Percy or Reimer than I think Leafs win the trade easy...I think Yak is that much of a sure thing. You might even argue that Leafs need to add.
Yakupov--first overall pick last season for the 25th over all pick in 2011, a 22 year old d-man with 22 nhl games and a goalie that has lost his starting job. Reimer is done with the leafs
let me flip the deal on its head
Oilers trade 2nd rounder, Anton Lander and David Musil for Jonathan Huberdeau of the panthers --would the panthers do that deal

wat?
Better check up on your "facts". Have you ever seen Gardiner play? Better yet, do you even know who he is?

Gardiner has just played 22 nhl games

Riemer is done in TO
I like Jake Gardiner, but he has a a lot to prove and he is not the key piece to getting Yakupov
and the olther guy was taken 25th over all in 2011

What on earth are you talking about? Gardiner put up 30 points in 75 games last season and was named to the all-rookie team. What do you think he has to prove? That he isn't a promising top 4 puck moving defenseman?

First off, Gardiner has played 22 AHL games this year. He played 70 or something games last year in his rookie season in the NHL, and had 30 points to go with it.
Second, Reimer is not done in TO. He had a concussion last year early in the season and was never able to fully recover from it. He had a strong rookie season, and I'm sure leaf brass is still hoping he can develop into a starting goalie in the future.
Your right about one thing though, Stuart Percy was in fact taken 25 O/A in the 2011 draft.

What, your not taking the word of a guy who never watches the Leafs play that Reimer is done in Toronto? But he said it twice without providing any reasoning!

I'm not too sure why he even decided to share his opinion, when it's blatantly obvious he has no idea what he's talking about regarding the leafs.
Reimer is not an upgrade over Dubnyk, so there's no real reason for Edmonton to pick him up. Oilers have a ton of leftie DMen, both on their team and in their system. Percy probably has more potential that Teubert at this point, but really they're just a wash.
Honestly, the value is right, but the pieces just don't make enough sense for Edmonton to me. I'll pass.
Toronto would have to way overpay for a winger which we don't need. And that package doesn't get us Yakupov anyways plus we take an aging goaltender with problems and a bust D-man. No thank you.

Bust??
He was a part of a trade that had a 30g/60p winger sent the other way!
