Should Edmonton Oiler fans be concerned with the mediocrity of the "star studded" AHL Oklahoma City Barons?
Why is this a suprise to this guy? It is basically the same thing that happens on the nhl club. Just with the nhl club the defense is absolutely horrible.
(There was enough angst in the Canadian media after their poor performance in semi-final, I can only imagine what might happen now. HNIC Radio addressed this Friday and commented that "rest of the world" has caught up, so perhaps the "gold or bust" mentality is outdated.)

When was the last time Canada didn't medal at the WJC?
1998. Makes it worse too considering their stacked team this year was relatively healthy for the entire tournament.
healthy yes, but suspended 4 times.
and stacked what? they had scheiffelie (sp), and the nuge. outside of those 2, the rest of the team will be lucky to have a career past the average nhl career.
this team wasn't as stacked as the media and some fans made it out to be. there was no crosby, hell there was no bergeron on this team.

Stacked compared to what other teams were icing. A number of players were chosen early in the first round like Hamilton, Murphy, Rielly, Huberdeau, Nugent-Hopkins, Scheifele, Strome, etc. As opposed to a team like the US who's only players chosen early were Galchenyuk and Trouba (off the top of my head, might have missed some). Even if you think players like Huberdeau and Strome will only have average NHL careers, what does that say about the players team USA was icing like Kuraly, Bardreau, etc?

Are you kidding? Nuge, Huberdeau, Strome, Scheifele, Hamilton, Reilly, Reinhart, and Murphy will probably all be top-6 forwards/top-4 defensemen with the exception of Murphy. Mackinnon and Drouin are potential top-3 picks in the upcoming draft.
There is no universe in which that team should not have won the tourney.

You might want to re-check the roster....
They had plenty of talent.
Huberdeau, Hamilton, MacKinnon, Reinhart, Strome, Ryan Murphy, and how can we forget the "Steal" of the 2012 draft Morgan Rielly... They had more big names on their team than the US did.
