Crunch time. Hopefully both parties put forward their best offers and we see what comes of it.

I wonder how many arena workers had to skimp on Christmas presents this year?

Greed is great. Merry Christmas, NHLPA.

Have they announced when they're going to blow up at each other and storm away from negotiations?

Exactly. I wouldn't put any stock into that poll. Hockey fans are angry and emotional right now and voted as such. Not with a clear mind and logic.

Generally I enjoy roller coasters, but the NHL/NHLPA one sucks balls.

Is it a bad sign that they're giving info to the media already? Kind of kills the "out of nowhere" vibe.

Nah. The media has to know that stuff. The bad news is if its known that the NHL/NHLPA has made an offer and explains in detail of the each provision of the offer. We can know an offer was made, but if we know the details, then thats bad.

And that, right there, is why I'm emotionally switching-off for the next month or so. There will be another roller coaster or two, where it seems like an announcement is imminent, and both sides will break it off and blame each other.

It's all posturing. This won't be decided until the clock is nearly at midnight and both sides are forced to make a deal in order to avoid a worst-case scenario.

F these guys. All of 'em.

With the cancelled games up to December 30, assuming they get a deal done, earliest they can play is New Years Eve. That would be roughly 54 games per team or so. If they can't agree, next one will be drop dead date.

One can only hope! I'm curious as to how both sides will come out after the **** storm last week, Fehr flat out lying in his PC, then Bettman trashing the PA in his PC. Should be interesting, don't really want to wait until Wednesday though.

As far as arena workers are concerned, read somewhere that at least in Calgary, workers with pay under 50k didn't have their salary cut or reduced.

Others did get a cut though. Hope that is the state in all 30 franchises.

It wasn't a concession: They both agreed that the players should be there.

its definately not the case, i know i heard of a few places that just laid off basically the entire lot of them, except the ones that are needed to run the building.

you don't think the owners agreeing the players can play in the olympics is a concession?

what do the owners get out of that non concession? its not money, its not tv ratings, its not really fans. the nhl shuts its doors down for what 2 weeks during the olympics? that is definately a concession on the owners side.

Just a random thought, but I wonder if any laid off team personnel have been looking for openings elsewhere like in the NBA, or somewhere else. I know not many teams have laid off employees at this time, but the ones who have.

• League decides it is time to try a new tactic: threaten no Olympics in the CBA if they don’t sign soon.

If any of that is true, then Wednesday is toast. If the Olympics being removed is true in any form, the season is toast.
My goodness. Did you say the league is trying to give players what they want?

Please..

Owners cancel games, lockout players AND EVERYONE ELSE.

Dude decides it's the PA who is to blame.

It's both their fault, players should have negotiated sooner, then less games would be canceled.

However the owners reasoning is more understandable.

Yeah the next cancellation is probably a two week block up to January 14th or whatever it is. Maybe they will cancel another week if they're close but after that it's over. Precedent for the 48 game schedule is set with the 95 season and they reached a deal on the 11th and started on the 20th.

LOL people still believing there
will be a season. I know its optimism but come on you are only fooling yourselves.

Why not just forget about NHL hockey this year and hope that they somehow get a deal done for 2013-2014 which I have my doubts.
