No, it won't end unless this team becomes woefully uncompetitive for an extended amount of time.

As for the weaker markets, there will be a short term dip after the CBA is signed, and then back to the normal of 6000+ empty seats per game. Hamilton won't be getting a team as long as Toronto has a say. Quebec will have to pay for an expansion team. I think Bettman will stick behind Glendale until the bitter end. Markets like Glendale are the reason he's pushing to cut the player's share.

Erm, did it?

I don't think they'll have an issue filling the building in Vancouver again.

Phoenix, Columbus, the Islanders, Florida, etc. will have a lot more trouble with attendance post lockout.
Their casual fans may not come back at all.

The NHL will pad the attendance figures for all games to keep Betmann looking good, but at some point financial reality is going to hit these weak teams.

at a long time ticket holder with exceptional seats ... I am hesitant to abandon the seats. I can't afford them, so I resell them all at about $5/ticket more than I pay for them, which is about $35 off the face value of the tickets. I make 1 -2 a season to games.

However, I am not fond of Aquilini nor any of the owners. I will not buy merchandise, food or alcohol at the games. I make a point of boycotting products advertised on TV (OK it hard to remember which ones are on which station).

But there is a waiting list for seasons tickets and if I remember correctly they had a 99% return rate after the cup run.

I have been a huge Canucks fan for over 40 years.
While I will watch them if they are on TV post-lockout, I have made a vow that the NHL will never again get a cent out of me, ie. No going to Toronto or Buffalo to watch games, no more Canucks merchandise, no more purchasing NHL books/magazines.
I am done with a league that has to wipe out 2 full seasons to put its financial house in order.
And yes, I am serious.

It seems as though people are ready to punish themselves for no reason.

Regardless if games start tomorrow, I have already decided on my boycott. Not a penny of my money shall go to the NHL for one full year. Won't go to games, no merch, and shall be watching all my games on the bootleg internet feeds.

I'm very happy with this plan. Anything else would just be silly. If what caused this lockout is that these multi-millionaries can't decide how to divy up the massive amounts of money I (and everyone else) pays them, then we'll see how quick they are to do it without my money.

Most of my friends into hockey have mentioned similar boycotts, some less severe, and some more severe than mine. I don't really know if the sellout will end, nor do I really care. All I can account for is myself. I can't account for the rest of the NHL fans.

I have 5 seasons tickets in the lower bowl. Row 4 and 9.

I would love nothing more than to show my displeasure, however it would cost me my seats. Rock n a hard place n all.

LOL
Not punishing myself at all.
There are so many entertainment options out there.
I am going to choose some that do not treat their clientele with such contempt.

As much as I'm pissed off about the lockout, if some great seats opened up because someone else decided to "make a statement" I'd snap them up in a heartbeat.

I guess most people registered on a message board will have an above average interest in hockey and their team. Some might change their behaviour out of anger, but my guess most "HF board-fans" will be as interested as ever (at least when the hockey really gets going). Based on my experience from Vancouver I would be very surprised if most maches aren't basically sold out - almost regardless what happens. Strong team in a big market. Don't really know the market well enough to say what would happen if the team wasn't as strong as it is.

In smaller and "newer" markets things are probably very different. The paradox being these same "franchises" (as a European it feels strange to describe a team/club like a franchise) are the ones needing a new CBA the most - while at the same time risking "new" fans losing interest.

Won't matter because the crowd sucks when it matters the most anyway.

Even a PGA exhibition is rowdier.

I've been in that position... But ultimately decided I would just buy scalped tickets for the games I wanted. Easier than constantly needing to dump tickets especially now that I have kids.

My clubs were $37k for the set... Not that easy to just snap them up.

I guess we just see it in a very different light. You live once, do the thing you want to do. Of course if there is something else you'd RATHER do, that's a different story.
