Scoutman wouldn't like that... A shame, but I know that the team Scoutman works for wouldn't take to kindly to what he was doing.

Why would a Scout put names of players on a chat board that his team may be interested in?

Balmas still looking like the top guy for the 14 draft?

I wish scoutman was still around here just to comment on non Q guys that he has good reads on. Regardless, i'm sure he's very busy.

He's up there, I donno if he's far and away the best like I woulda said last year.

There are a few good Nova Scotians for 2014 though

Brett Crossley at Shattuck St. Mary's right now:
http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=195781

Luke Green is ripping it up and he's listed as a D. Unfortunately I haven't seen a Bedford game this season so I donno if he changed positions or not but if he's on D, there could be a good player there:
http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=195389

Keith Getson is continuing his impressive production but I simply haven't had time to go watch Major Bantam this season so I don't have a list of standouts

What's up with Crossley this year?
He's not doing much statistically, at least.

Also, there's a new Atlantic tourney:
Quote:
he Nova Scotia EastLink Major Midget Hockey League (NSMMHL) is pleased to announce the premier edition of The Chronicle Herald East Coast IceJam Hockey Tournament. This year’s tournament will be comprised of at least 18 Major Midget and Prep School teams from all over Atlantic Canada.“ This tournament will be a showcase of the best Major Midget hockey players in Atlantic Canada,” said Geoff Newton, Tournament Chairperson. “There hasn’t been a tournament in Nova Scotia of this size with this calibre of hockey for a long time.”

The tournament will be held at the BMO Centre in Bedford, NS from Wednesday, January 9th to Sunday, January 13th, 2013. Tournament games will kick-off on Wednesday evening and will feature the 2 Major Midget teams from St. John’s, NL, the St. John’s Maple Leafs and St. John’s Privateers. The two St. John’s teams will be playing two Halifax area teams from the NSMMHL to start the action.

Is Noel still considered the best 97? What about Sprong?

He is a good 97, as far as the best time will tell there are many good 97 forwards in Atlantic Canada the difference in talent level is very little.

"Five High end 97 American's should fit well into the early rounds -

Defense

Noah Hanifin 6'3 195 - US Prep MA / Boston College 2015
Casey Fitzgerald 5'10 170 - US Prep MA / Boston College 2015

Forward

Colin White 6'1 170 - US Prep MA / Boston College 2016
Cam Askew 6'3 175 - US Prep MA / Northeastern 2016
Cal Burke 5'10 170 - US Prep MA / Uncommitted"

Good list of NE kids. White won't go up north. I would put my money on Hanafin and Askew from this list. Burke would also fit in very nicely in the Q. Hanafin and Askey are both pro prospects who are already bored with prep school hockey. They won't develop any more after this season. Hopefully they realize that the Q is a better option than College, hockey wise.

Another good Q prospect is Austin Rook -- A big D-man with a ton of skill.

Sprong may be considered OHL territory. Last I heard it was undecided.

With guys like Noel, Deschesne, Roy and possibly Sprong, it should be another good draft in the Q this season but I'm always skeptical of Quebec top prospects. Mostly because I see them the very least but also because it seems so many top Q prospects from Quebec end up busting.

Crossley's doing fine, he wasn't going there as the star and has over a point a game. Production is fine. Look at Connor Hurley, he had 59pts in 58 games back in his bantam days at Shattuck and he's a projected first rounder for a deep draft this year.

Many feel Deschenes has stagnated in his development and at this point, it is quite possible he does not make it in the top-10. Not sure Sprong will be top-5 either. If there is a consensus no. 1 pick at this point, it would be J. Roy who ranks amongst the very best 97 born defencemen in Canada followed by Beauvilier and Noel in whichever order.

Sprong won't be in OHL territory..

He grew up in the LSL area... And is a LSL tiger right now...

Him leaving last year was to get a higher level of competition..

Last I heard he was playing for the Oakville Rangers lol. That could make him OHL territory (See Taylor Hall)

I barely pay attention to Quebec

They have a website or is it Espoir, like GTHL, that doesn't make rosters/stats public? Can't remember if it's Quebec AAA or Espoir

Dunno what league you're thinking of, but both publish stats.
The Espoir one is more difficult to navigate, but here's Sprong's stats.

That page doesn't include his La Baie stats or his Team Espoir AAA Challenge stats, though.

they lost a game while Sprong and 2 other top guys were away at the Reebok Challenge

I saw he tweeted earlier this evening, he got a hat trick today... Tigers won 7-1 according to their website.

17-1-3 now

I had read that he's the most talented of the three, but that's not saying much as neither of the older two have been that incredible.
