Interesting.

I've seen Hudson Fasching dropping on most lists, but he's 27 on here.

Same. I just don't see him dropping past 2. I have him going first overall though.

Wow Domi at 19? Crazy. Kid is going to be an absolute steal. I HOPE the leafs get two picks in this draft.

If we are simply ranking the best draft eligible players for 2013, Nichushkin shouldn't be any lower than 15 and realistically should be top 10.
I'm speaking for E-Mac here, and he can correct me if I'm wrong: this is not a mock draft; it is E-Mac's rankings on where he'd draft them based on longterm NHL potential. He recognizes Nichushkin as a tremendous talent, but until he sees him in NA, he has doubts - rightfully so. I do still have him as mid-1st ranked (stay tuned for The Next Ones December rankings). Even if he expresses interest to play on our side of the pond, until he comes over, acclimatizes, and it all comes together for him, who really knows. There's many GM gun-shy about drafting Russians - can't criticize E-Mac for being of the same ilk.

I agree. I have him as BPA. IMO, it'll depend on who's picking first though

The Leafs are dumb and I wouldn't be surprised if they trade their first round pick for Luongo. I love Toronto but some of the decisions made by front office are mind boggling

I would be. They may make some suspect decisions but trading a 1st rounder for that contract?....can't see them doing it. With an uncertain CBA coming up, nobody will be trading 1st rounders.

Just sent 41 to 50 for editing; thrilled to see No 50, JC Lipon made Team Canada.

The editor doing his best to get the article up before the weekend, but a ski weekend in the Rockies may delay it slightly.

Stay tuned for E-Mac's unique rankings series on THW.

Cool article - thanks.

Editor: Gauthier is listed at 1219 pounds. Either there's a typo or big fat fatty needs to slim down if he wants to play in the NHL.

I'm thinking the Pens will land the 5th pick via draft lottery and select Josh Morrissey....

Morrisey is a fantastic talent, but 5th might be a stretch; great organization though and they can always surprise (Puliot!) - and what a future patrolling the blueliner in Steel City.

That's actually exactly what I was playing on. It was a big shock to see them take two defensemen the year before, but to see them take Pouliot as their first pick (and probably about 15 picks too early) and Maatta was just overkill. So I threw a little bit of hyperbole out there by suggesting they'll nab a prime pick and find a way to squander it a little bit by take an under-sized, offensive-minded defenseman again.

Pouliot was definitely not taken 15 picks too early. I agree that he was a reach, but he would not have fallen past 15. Also Maattaa was clearly BPA at 22

E-Mac has done a great job - remember there's a nickname for every prospect rated.

F joke this list. Lads played this year like 25-30 games with other juniors while barkov has 45-50 games until now, including men's league, eurotrophy games and now U20 championships near Siberia, as a 17 year old kid.
And the preseason games are not included.
Would love to see him playing in the QMJHL to give these guys making these rankings a bit aspect.
