So I went to the Dollar Store...

and bought a pack of '08-'09 OPC for a buck, and found this inside:

sold for this much
http://www.ebay.com/itm/321021932381...84.m1423.l2649

and another guy is trying to sell it for this much
http://www.ebay.com/itm/GRETZKY-WAYN...21021932381%26

I think I may have gotten my moneys worth.

so I have a binder of hockey cars, mostly 06-07 to 09/10. Roughyl 440 assorted cards. If I wanted to sell them do I take them to some palce (where/) and sell them all at once or whats the best value wise. I also have no idea what price I'd be looking at, 'm certain most are fairly common cards. Upper deck and o-pee-chee cards

If it's a full set then you can sell it quite easily. If it's mixed then you have to sell them as lots so on eBay for example you'd say "pick a lot of 10 cards for $x" and list the numbers for the cards you have available.

Imo it won't really be worth that much if it's Series 1/2 and O-Pee-Chee base cards so it's better to just hang on to them and look at them many years down the line.

Everyone wants to sell cards nowadays, very few actually collect excluding PC's and people who just wanna break packs and boxes and flip on eBay.

I've never collected hockey cards. Where is a good place to buy cheap (or somewhat cheap) packs/boxes from the '90's-present?

have close to 10,000 cards. Mostly 88 - 94.

approx 300-400 Gretzky's including rookie, early 80's, foil, etc.
some earlier rookies for other stars from late 70's, early 80's
some autographed cards
some graded cards
not much of the new stuff

on a side note collected ball cards for 1 summer and it was a good summer, got 3 Griffey Jr rookies, and others.

No matter where you find them, cards from the 90's should be cheap.

Early 90 base cards are worth 10 cents... You could buy hundreds of them for probably a dollar. Roy, Lemieux, Gretzky, etc included. That's how worthless they are.

Once they stop making them, the cards start to get lost, damaged, burned, thrown out, etc and yours start to appreciate in value.

If the foil card is from around 93, then it's pretty much worthless. I have a Bourque Norris winner foil card and it's more useful in bike spokes than to sell.

Nice pull on those Gretzky cards.

I recently bought a Roy card from 93-94 Topps Stadium Club Finest Members Only, so it wasn't in packs (don't think so, anyways) Got it for 5 dollars, worth 12. The funny thing is a guy has the same card on eBay for 50 bucks.

Newer cards bought on eBay:
97-98 Upper Deck Ice Legends. BV 30. Paid 5 (shipping included)
97-98 Pinnacle Certified Platinum Blue. Paid 8 (shipping included) BV 60(?) Not sure, as I can't find Platinum Blue in the price guide, only Blue.

I'll be checking out checkoutmycards.com.

Updating my Roy collection for sure...

Unfortunately, some of their book prices aren't correct.

Funnily enough I bought a couple of mystery packs today. A mix of 80's, 90's, and 2000's cards for the most part, all from O-Pee-Chee to Black Diamond. I did pull an Olli Jokinen rookie card back when he was with the Kings and even a Mario Lemieux 1988 base card, so I'm pretty happy with that.

For cards of individual players, www.sportlots.com is the cheapest place (18 cents for most common base cards). Make sure you save on shipping though by using one of the main sellers on that site who has a tonne of cards (barriere, cttcdork, marblesx).

If you wanna buy a pack/box of 90s cards then eBay or a site like sportscardforum saying you're looking for high quantities of cheap 90s cards would be the way to go. eBay always has auctions to buy a bunch of lots of unopened 90s packs.

Btw does anyone here have a tonne of Panini Prime/The Cup/Dominion base cards? I'd be looking to buy them for cheap (just the base cards). I've found quite a few from eBay for 99 cents or $3 for more popular players but I'd like a few more and wouldn't mind saving on shipping costs by getting it from one person. Love the base designs on those and the fat that they're nice thick cards though the back of those cards is boring.

For most players it's cheap, but for Roy, Lemieux, Gretzky, etc you'll probably end up paying 20 bucks, or so.

Just searched Roy base card the cup. Most are 15 dollars+ Found 2 that are low.I'll be bidding myself as I sadly don't have any Roy base cards from the Cup.

Alright guys, curious where you would recommend buying a series 1 Upper Deck 2013 Hockey box? Appreciate the list of retailers from UpperDecks website but I assume some of you all purchase boxes online from somewhere. Busted knee so I can't drive right now to pick up a box. Online only. Thanks

The funny thing about this is, I just bought both of these cards for around 15-20 dollars... Shipping included, so I find it hilarious this guy/girl has these listings up.

I've been trying to finish my notable retired players set and what I find sad is how card companies haven't bothered to make proper cards of many players who retired before the 50s and some 60s. Lalonde, Nighbor, Lach, many of the other greats.

ITG often does make cards for them but it's annoying how they all have a description about the player rather than his year by year stats. I finally find one set called ITG Enshrined which has full stats and it's much more expensive than a normal base set because it's limited, $2-4 for a common card from the set rather than getting 8 or 10 cards for that same amount from another set. So I'll just make customs lol

Some of my best Avalanche cards. Sadly, it's not in the best quality, but here it is:

Matt Duchene Victory Rookie

Paul Stastny Artifacts Jeresey Card (burgundy swatch)

And the best... Joe Sakic O-Pee-Chee Priemers (white swatch, burgundy swatch, and orange swatch). I also really like how it has the '600' for when he scored his 600th career goal. And I think the orange must be from his practice jeresey or something.

I remember upper deck had really nice WJC cards around 1992 and 1993.

Oddly enough, it's from the same set as the Selanne card above.
I got that Bure card from the box that I opened.
Is $20 all I can expect from my unopened box? If that's true, that sure was a terrible investment.

Anyone know of KSA and their grading? I found an Ed Belfour rookie card graded on eBay for 10 bucks. The card its self is worth 10 cents, MAYBE. I assume the 8.90 is for the cost of getting it graded. It's a 10, but I've done a google search and it seems that they're very generous in their grading.

For some reason, this Ed Belfour card has been one of my favourites.

Minus the signature.

Not a fan of KSA. basically, either go with BGS or PSA.

Do you know the difference between gold and silver bgs. If there is one ?

Would KSA. Be good enough for a cheap card like the Belfour rookie ?

I think that if you want a real 10, and you want any future buyer to also believe it's a ten, then you dont want to go with KSA. It might be worth 10 bucks but i would'nt be surpriced if a BGS and PSA is worth more than that if a 10 becouse that is like ULTRA MINT in a card. A 9 and a 9.5 is also considered Mint i believe.

The difference between gold and silver BGS is to be read about here:

http://www.beckett.com/grading/compare_our_services

Happy collecting btw!

Thanks.

I don't think the card is worth 10 bucks, just looking to get it for nostalgia reasons.

You won't get $20 for that box.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1990-91-Uppe...item53f15a0dcf

A case of 24 boxes with zero bids on it going for $100.

An individual box going for 99cents (shipping is kind of high granted):

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1990-91-Uppe...item1c2e2c6e02

Zero bids.

Personally I would just stay away, even if you want it for nostalgia reasons and even if it's a low end card. For me, it wouldn't seem right to have it in the collection.
