What? I don't get what you're trying to say.

Seems like everything is more productive when neither side is posturing for the media, so perhaps a media / podium ban will be effective.

Apply it to your own life. If the choice was work 6 months for 50k or sit on the couch for 30k, which do you chose?

Ignoring the contract rights (which are a bigger deal than people realize) that 300m in make whole was worth the fight.

Tell that to the players' bank accounts. I guess all the arena workers who lost their jobs don't count that as money lost either since they don't have to work anymore.

Haven't been following ever since the negotiation explosion last week, what is the hope level going into tomorrow among these boards?

He's trying to say that $300M is a major win for the players (I disagree and say that it is tempered by the salary loss), and that since they didn't have to actually play it's not like they really lost because they didn't perform the service they are normally paid for...well, I think that's what he's saying.

Hey! I nailed that one!
Fehr was holding out on the 10 year CBA to bargain on the contract rights. It didn't make sense any other way for the PA to not jump all over a 10 year CBA.

So you are trying to say what I thought.

The players gave up 500m for 300m, if they agreed right now. Correct, no need to skew it to a narrative.

No way man, the guy is a horrible negotiator. He doesn't have that kind of foresight

And I asked if the teams that don't own their arenas have leasehold rights over them. Our owner doesn't own our arena but has full control over it and the events that take place in it.

At this point I wouldn't even say it's too far fetched to suggest that Fehr has been paid off by some other league to sabotage the nhl.
They're already a niche sport in the US. Why would anybody from a different league spend money to sabotage the least successful of the major leagues? They're already at the bottom.

300m for doing no work > 500m for playing 34 games no matter how you slice it.

Absolutely not...especially assuming you'd be in the building for that. Losing a whole season would really water down the last part of the celebration (the banner raising) since you'd have to wait eighteen months like Lightning fans did.

Well this kinda flies in the face of "we just wanna play" doesn't it.

Hmm...I guess arena workers should be happy that they can't pay their mortgage, or add to their kid's college fund. They aren't working either.

Bah..
I no longer believe in a season this year.

The PA waited too long and the losses can't be salvaged with a deal. I think they will try their luck at the "long shot" legal battle.

Could be a different niche league like MLS that wants to get up above the NHL in the US lol. The MLS commissioner already made a comment about how 'we take care of our fans, we don't have lockouts'.

... they could have negotiated some make whole from the original offer as well if they had tried to. Those aren't exactly apples to apples canceling out because they were going to get make whole to compensate for the drop to 50/50 in the next couple of years. They lost their salaries this year and make whole is still there, it wasn't like it is a new piece.

So the mediators rejoin the talks tomorrow. Now who suggested that I wonder? Looks like Fehr got his way on that one.
