Sorry, but if you are going to honestly claim that Mike Pyle > BJ Penn or Nate Diaz then you are being dishonest and there is no point in discussing this any further.
You can continue blindly bashing Rory Macdonald now.
Btw, telling me to "read the posts again" is probably beneath you, or at least I thought so.
Does that even deserve a response?
Actually, at welterweight, Pyle is the best of those three right now.
People aren't knocking Rory by saying he needs to beat a top 10 guy before getting a title shot, they're just stating the truth. He's looked amazing so far and is likely top 3 in the division skill wise but he hasn't done enough to get a title shot which btw he doesn't even want so I'm not sure why we're discussing this.

I would pick either Penn or Nate Diaz to beat Pyle, although Pyle is better than people think. But I agree in everything else.

Mike Pyle is terribly underrated. He have fought Hendricks if the Kos fight didn't get stolen from him.

Because some people are trying to say Macdonald has fought nobodies while at the same time Ellenberger has fought worthy opponents, significantly better than what Rory has faced.
Nobody is talking about Macdonald getting or deserving a title shot.
I do think a rematch with Condit would make good sense for the ufc though. A fight with Ellenberger not so much.
Rory is guilty of the in ring shuffle, hardly the first guy to do it but because he did it to the great BJ, ironically his fans are looking for other things to wine about just like him, & what else? Oh ya, he doesn't want to fight his brother from another mother in George..
I like Penn but Rory is 1 of my favorite fighters but that shuffle pissed me off. There's no need for it. It doesnt achieve anything.
Who has Ellenberger beaten besides Sanchez and Shields?
Not much of anyone really. A washed up Jay Hieron? Are you really going to tell me Ellenberger isnt a step down from BJ Penn?
Please.
Also, it would not surprise me if Rory tests positive for steriods/peds. He was sporting a pretty serious case of bacne on Saturday.
VADA does their job well, I doubt he was on anything.
BJ Penn was a standing corpse on Saturday and basically gassed as soon as he stepped foot in the cage. I bought into the hype as much as anybody this time around, but it's clear he's pretty much garbage at welterweight aside from the first few minutes of the first round. Ellenberger is a much bigger threat than the embarrassment we saw on Saturday.

Pretty much. I was really disappointed. I really thought he'd be on his best game.
Did any of you see the slow mo clip from the Ramsey Nijem/Joe Proctor fight where a punch landed on a guy's mouth in super slow motion, and as the fist pulled away it revealed that the guy's tongue was out and licking it?
Or did it just show that clip between rounds in the Key Arena?
I'm trying to find a GIF of it somewhere. No luck.

They showed it on TV. The phantom cam they were using is pretty cool.
Henderson was chewing a toothpick in his mouth during the entire fight against Diaz. The commission isn't going to suspend him, but I guess they're going to implement some sort of rule going forward against it.
There is a rule against it. YOu can't have anything but sanctioned uniform equipment in the ring... like how they do the pat down of fighters before entering.
The commission said, that while toothpick was not listed as banned, it was most likely against the rules, but did not factor into the decision. Therefore, they were not investigating the situation. Dana White also came out and said that it was illegal.
Really, its a non-issue. It's talked about after every fight. They tell him not to, he says 'I wont, its a bad habit', then we talk about it again.

Has this been confirmed? I read his corner gave it to him immediately after the fight.

They only said that after everyone made a big deal about it. This was right after the fight ended and before anyone from his corner got into the cage:
If he had it in his mouth before he entered the cage, then the guy who is supposed to check him outside the cage dropped the ball. If his corner gave it to him inside the cage, then it's on the guys from the commission who stand beside him while Buffer is doing the introductions. It's dangerous but I think people are making way too much out of this. Next time they'll probably just tell him not to do it and they'll spend some extra time checking his mouth before he gets in there.

The only person to be blamed is Henderson, he knows better. Just bizarre and dumb.
It's dumb but it's also the commission's job to make sure it doesn't happen.
There has to be accountability by Henderson and his team. The thought that its someone else's job to protect against this kind of stupidity is unfortunate.

They said he does it all the time while sparring as well so none of them seem to have any problem with it. The guy who is supposed to check his mouth before he gets in the cage can easily prevent this from happening.
